Tax question for EI services

Does anyone on this board know if you can deduct EI services (the part we paid per hour) on our taxes? I called EI and they have no clue and usually we just do our taxes on our own so we don't have an accountant. If anyone knows, I would be very appreciative :) Thanks!

Re: Tax question for EI services

  • Yes you can deduct what you pay out of pocket for services. But realize you can only deduct medical expenses in excess of 10% of you AGI. So if you made $50,000, you can only deduct expenses in excess of $5,000. But it does include mileage to appts.

  • Thanks! This is for his in-home services from the past year (twice a week but was upped to 6x a week at one point)...so no traveling and really won't amount to anywhere near 10% but it still adds up along with all our other medical bills!

Thanks so much, I appreciate it.
