Anyone else leaving their job for good?

Turned my notice in last Friday. CANNOT WAIT to GTFO. Going back to school. SUCH a better option for me than working in this heck hole :-P

Re: Anyone else leaving their job for good?

  • Good for you!! If a decision makes you happy I think it's great. Enjoy school! I miss being in school.

  • I did the same thing when my daughter was born (a little over a year ago) then we found out we're having this little surprise when she was 6 months old. Still going strong in school though! Good luck to you!

  • I am leaving for good!!! Unfortunately, I'm not giving my two weeks until I have two weeks of maternity leave left... Not that I have any paid leave anyway- way to go, U.S Government! Cannot wait to walk out and know I'm not returning!!
  • I most likely will be leaving for good. I'm a nanny and it doesn't make sense for me to pay someone to watch my kid, just to go watch someone else's kids.
  • Hells. Yes.

I was desperately searching like a madwoman for a new job when I discovered I was expecting, and decided to stick around.

My last day of work is also my birthday. I'm going to FLOAT outta there!!
  • I've been off work for nearly a year now. I'm really starting to miss work, and keep looking at jobs. But I really don't know how I'll feel once LO arrives. I can't imagine letting him/her out of my sight, EVER.

  • Nope. I'll be back 12 weeks after delivering LO. But I really like my job and enjoy the challenge it brings. I do wish it were 30 hours a week but what can you do?
I hope to create a real siggy but first I need some sleep!

    Mom to Lily and Colin!
  • Thanks for all the congrats everyone. Never would have thought it would have worked out this well, but I'm so thankful.

I work for a small military non profit that helps wounded warriors and while I absolutely LOVE working with them, the org is going downhill fast. I've wanted out for the past meh...5 months. I've been there a year. It's just absolute misery.

Anyway, I graduated high school a way long time ago (embarrassed to say when) and never finished my two year but now...I see maybe there was a reason :) I'll be going back to hopefully finish my paralegal. Decided tonight to drop my in person classes and take all online this coming semester. Bummed because my in person classes were topics I was passionate about but it's probably a way better idea since this is my first, I'm flying solo, and won't have help. Online will be so much easier to manage during this newborn phase.

I'll have to resume working after a few months, but planning on going back to nannying and just taking her with me or working from home, etc. I am trying to keep her out of daycare for as long as humanly possible. Plus, finishing my education would be a great accomplishment and would set us up for a great future :)

I will be skipping out of my office on my last day as well. CAN'T WAIT! Congrats to all of you who are leaving also. My job doesn't provide benefits or maternity leave/FMLA etc., so it was time to go for more than one reason.

  • I am leaving for good as well! I am waiting until I'm on FMLA and I'm 2 weeks out from my sick leave running out. I am planning on getting paid out what's left of my vacation. I've already been at my job about a year too long. For the past few months I've been preparing to start my own private practice after my baby is born. I've been fortunate to have some great opportunities come to me recently to support this long time dream. I was initially going to find a part time job. But this seems to fit everything I want and need.
  • Also, let the countdown begin to all of us!!!!
  • I'm thinking about it...everytime I get upset at work I think I could just leave and not come back lol...we'll see I think I would go stir crazy being at home everyday
  • Yeah for me, it was certain when I got an email from my boss right before my midwife appointment and my BP was high. Clearly my job is affecting my pregnancy and I'm sick of it. I'd like to be able to enjoy my last month and relax.

  • I wish i was! I will be working through my leave some, from home, and will have to go back at 6 weeks. Luckily, it sounds as though my employer will be flexible, allowing me to work a few days a week in office, and a few days from home.
