3rd Trimester

Real or false labor?

Ftm...35 weeks with Lower back pain with Abdominal tightening from top to bottom increased pressure in pelvis coming and going...feel different than my typical Braxton hicks of total belly tightening, more like a slow wave...is this just a change in my braxton hicks or should I call dr?

Re: Real or false labor?

  • drink a big glass of water and lay on your left side.  Keep track of the contractions and time how long they are and how much time is between them.  If they dont stop or are getting closer together call your doc.  Most docs want you to call when they are 5 mins apart and lasting for 1 min each for at least one hour.

Probably false labor.  Do what above PP suggested.

Exactly this. I have the 5-1-1 rule in my head. I'm 37 weeks and go through the rule a lot!!! :).

  • My dr wants me to call her anytime i have more than 7 contractions in an hour before I'm full term. This may be an unusual rule of thumb but I guess she wants to be extra careful since i'm not term yet and would want to be able to stop labor if it started. Might want to ask your doctor when you should call him/her about contractions.

I'm just trying to make sense of things :-)
  • Drink water, take a bath, lay down, eat something. Keep tack of how many in an hour. If they don't stop call dr. 35 weeks is too early for baby! Call hospital and ask them what they want you to do! This always surprises me wit OB and hospital births. Mamas don't know what to do with situations. Wit my midwife we discuss all the things that should be called about , what to do if this or that. And I can call/page them 24/7 and ask questions
