Advice needed: Taking baby to Christmas service

I need some help here. We want to attend a Christmas service, but aren't regular church goers. I grew up in church every weekend, but cannot for the life if me recall what people did with little infants- do you just take the whole car seat in and put it in the pew next to you?

Any other baby in church tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Advice needed: Taking baby to Christmas service

  • people in my church usually bring in a stroller or put infants in a carrier.  Our church has a lot of babies, so we leave the back couple rows open for families with infants.  People NIP a lot too, most cover though ;)

  • I just wear her. She sleeps when I wear her. If she gets fussy it's easy to rock her asleep.

Ah, I wish LO would sleep in his baby k'tan. He tolerates it for 15 minutes max and then starts screaming. Blah.

He sleeps well in his car seat so I was hoping that would be the norm. Or normal enough.

  • We take the car seat, it is also her protection from all the coughing and sneezing.
  • My church has a family lounge.

So we will be sitting there until the band is over, and then taking the girls down into the services.

But my church is also huge and does everything out of their way for the families.
  • We'll be taking him in the car seat w/ the cover and sitting in the back. If he fusses I can nurse him and the cover will help keep the incense off of him (Episcopalian Christmas Eve service is formal).

  • We take him in the car seat. I still sit in our normal area which is midway up but I sit on the outside so I can easily get up.

  • I'll bring LO in in his car seat, our church has a nursery so if he gets fussy my lil sister will take him in there and watch him
  • We bring her in the car seat and then take her out when she gets fussy and I throw a blanket over her and nurse.  We sit in the first pew typically so it's easier for my other kids to see and pay attention.

  • I wear DD in the Moby. She sleeps really well in it. When she needs changed or fed I take her back to the nursing moms room in the back of the main sanctuary which has a monitor so you don't miss any of the service.
