My daughter's first birthday is next Thursday, the 26th. I have no idea what to do. I originally thought I would make cupcakes for her, but that idea just makes me upset now because someone would have to eat them and it wouldn't be her. I want to do something special for her, but I have no idea what to do. How did you (or do you plan to) celebrate/remember your angel's birthday. Her loss day is Saturday, the 28th, so I'm hoping to do different things for each day, though I expect I'll spend Saturday hiding from the world at home.

    We found out we lost Elsie on Dec 7th and then delivered on Dec 8th. 

    On Dec 7th, my husband and I did things alone. We went through her memory box, lit candles and talked about all the good memories we had of her pregnancy. That evening, we lit a solitary paper lantern. (I ordered them from Ebay, around $1 each). 

    On Dec 8th our family who lives close all came over. We had dinner and birthday sugar cookies. Then we went into our fields and set off paper lanterns as a group. It was very sweet to us, and our parents really enjoyed being a part of something in memory of their granddaughter. My sis and her Dh came as well as my 3yr old niece. They also enjoyed being a part, and it was so sweet seeing my niece watch the paper lanterns and say out loud how she hoped her cousin would enjoy them.

    We wanted something that was family and just a quiet moment to remember her. We look forward to doing this every year. 

    I am interested to see what others do as well.

    We lit a candle for her and went through her baby book together and talked about our memories of her.  We were going to go out to dinner but honestly did not feel like it.  

    For my EDD we released a balloon and wrote her a letter...then we went out to dinner to celebrate her.  Both days were really special to me.

    Interested to see others responses as well.  hugs to you during this time.

    8/12-Suprise BFP- Sweet Bunny Born Sleeping 11/21/12 (19 weeks)

    -5/7/13- MMC (8 Weeks)

    11/6/13- BO discovered at 7 weeks- natural MC 11/25/13

    8/14- Surpise IF dx...low AMH (.24)- moving on to IVF

    IVF #1- 11/14- 6R5M4F=2 perfect frosties

    12/19/14- FET of 2 embabies = BFP!!!  One Little Bean EDD: 9/3/15

    We brought beautiful pink roses to the cemetery and had a small memorial for her (just me and DH) and lit a candle for her at home. We had planned to read poems etc. but we ended up just talking to her. I think that whatever you do will be just perfect for your daughter and you guys. I built up a lot of anxiety leading up to the day but I found the day to be a lot more peaceful than I had thought. Hugs to you.

    We haven't reached Kayla's first birthday yet, but our plan is to do a small balloon release at the cemetery (just MH and I) and adopt a grave....which is where you find a baby's grave at the cemetery that looks like it hasn't had visitors in a long time or maybe is so old all surviving family is gone.  Then you clean it up, trim the grass around the stone, wash off the stone, leave flowers, etc.  It makes me happy to do that because it would be nice if someone did that for Kayla's long after we're gone.

October 2012 Metformin 1500 mg= ovulation on CD34 BFP#2 11/14/12 9DPO, EDD 7/26/13, DX Gestational Diabetes @14 wks, our angel born sleeping 3/24/13 @ 22wks 2d. BFP #3 7/4/13 8DPO EDD 3/22/14, DX Gestational Diabetes @14 wks. started insulin @16 wks.  Our rainbow, born 3/19/14 @ 39wks 6d., we're so in love!
