Hair pulling.

Whenever she gets even a tad mad or upset, B pulls her own hair. Sometimes she'll even pull out a few strands. I try to redirect her but it happens at least a dozen times a day. Anyone else dealing with this?

Re: Hair pulling.

  • She does it all the time and then she tries to eat it. It drives us nuts.

Im praying that this is just a phase. I try to hand her one of her dolls and rub its head and saw "awwww gentle" then she rubs it and says "awwww" too. Then I'll rub her hair and say the same. Hoping that maybe this will help. I try not to tell her no or scold her for it because I'm terrified that will just make it worse.

    Edit - typo

  • Leo doesn't do that, but he hits himself on the head--not so much when he's angry, I think just for attention. I also just try to say gentle, and then ignore, so he doesn't get more attention for doing it.,

  • Emma does it to herself when she is mad sometimes. She plays/twirls her hair when she is tired. She often pulls mine or others hair when playing. Sometimes I think she is hair obsessed. When everyone was discussing the disorder about pulling out ones own hair I began to get concerned. I hope she doesn't do that too.

I guess this is something I should mention to her pedi at the 15 month checkup :(

Eta @chricast that is exactly what I'm worried about. It only happens when she's upset tho. She goes right for her hair. It breaks my heart.
