July 2012 Moms

I need make-up help!

So, I'm supposed to be getting some work done but instead I'm procrastinating on Facebook and going through old tagged pictures.  I look so old and blah!  I'm planning to get my hair cut and colored before the babies arrive but I think I need something else.  Maybe a make-up overhaul?  I'm stuck in a minimalist routine that is comprised of Bare Minerals foundation, mineral vale, a bit of black eye liner, and mascara.  I look so boring!  Help me!  How do I rejuvenate my look?  I'm terrified of becoming a mom blob.

Anyone else feeling this way lately?

PS. I'm turning 30 soon so this may or may not be related...

  • @Trixi282 Lip gloss is a good idea.  I've always been a Lip Smackers kind of girl but maybe that should change.

@Mightybee I actually have a bronzer that came with my Bare Minerals but I don't know how to use it.  I guess I should Youtube that sh*t!

  • All of the above ideas are good. I always put a little of neural shimmery shadow on my lids - it makes me look more awake, lol.

For lips I like clinic almost lipstick in black honey - it is sheer an lite and gives me very natural look.

Bronzer is a good idea. I also put some bronzer on my showlders, collarbone and cleavage or wherewer I expose skin ;)

You look young. And btw 30 is great age.

  • I second the bronzer. A new lipstick and blush always make me feel refreshed. It's that simple. And you need blush daily if you wear foundation otherwise you look washed out. That's why warmth came in your bare minerals kit! Don't skip it. :)

  • You could also just use blush.  I love my Nars in "orgasm".  It's a beautiful shimmery peachy color that doesn't make you look overdone.
  • @hibiscus29 what other goodies did you get? Did you find a red?

  • After using bare minerals for the last almost decade I recently switched to smash box BB cream. It's like a light foundation and I love it so much. It goes on so smooth and provides a totally natural looking coverage. I also put a bit of powder over top ( the bare minerals actually works well) to finish it off. If you go to sephora ask them for a sample and also ask them for tips. If you talk to the right employee they are usually very helpful and will give you a bunch of samples to try.
  • Oh yes!! Ask for samples!! They can even give you blush and shadow samples. I'm a sample whore and I always leave with a bunch.

If you get a blush sample just empty it on a napkin and tap your brush on that.

  • Sorry this became a post and run. You can blame my pregnancy induced narcolepsy. lol

Thanks for all of the tips! I'll definitely check out the Burt's Bees tinted lip balm. I've never been a lipstick person but I have a Chapstick addiction and that could be a good bridge. My lips are so pale, especially in the winter. I'm glad you all mentioned the BM warmth because I set it aside when I first got the pack and haven't looked at it since then. Maybe it will give my Ohio skin a bit of a healthy glow. You better believe that I'll be hitting up a Sephora once the holidays are over! Sometimes we all just need a little bit of a change to feel pretty. :)

    Thanks, J12!
