Recipes so easy, even a DH could make them

Hey, ladies. In keeping with today's Husband theme, I was looking for the easiest recipes out there. I've been stressed out over how little time I get to spend with LO, so DH wants to take over making dinner a few nights a week. The only problem is that he has very little cooking experience, but he's wanting to learn.

Would you be willing to share your EASIEST recipe? (Also, we don't own a grill, so we can't do any grilling recipes.)

P.S. I know there are a million recipes on the Internet, but I'm interested in ones from other moms who are sleep-deprived and balancing a LO on one hip. ;)

  • Not the healthiest of choices but pigs in a blanket are super fast and easy. Same with shepard's pie. Those were some of the first meals besides pasta that DH cooked when we first lived together. :)

  • Loading the player...
  • Pulled chicken sandwiches my easy go to.
Buy a rotisserre chicken, pull chicken off and the put on buns with cole slaw and BBQ sauce serve with fries or deli potato salad.

Another of my easy go to breaded chops

Dipped chops in egg then coat with bread crumbs throw it in the over with butter globs in baking dish cook on 350 until done. Serve with veg or mash taters
  • Spaghetti is the easiest! Also, any meat (chicken breast, pork chop, steak) In the oven with a baked potato and veggie (steam in a bag kind) is a go to my DH.. It's nearly impossible to mess up.

  • Chicken pot pie pull apart rotisserie chicken, bag of mixed frozen veggies, Philadelphia savory garlic cooking cream, heat through put in pie pan cover with pilsbury pie crust
  • I know you're looking for recipes but on nights when I'm home alone it's Trader Joe's that does most of the cooking.

Do you have one in your area? The penne arabiatta. orange chicken. Chicken pot pies, meatballs, etc. might be good items for him to "practice cooking".

He'll still have to use the oven or stove and boil noodles or rice for some things, but it's easy and you'll know it will taste ok.

  • Fajitas are really easy, that's all my DH can make.
  • DH makes grilled rice. He cuts up meat and veggies (onions, bell peppers, and whatever else is in the house). Puts the meat and butter or peanut oil in a large skillet. Cooks. Adds veggies, garlic, salt. Cooks. Then adds a little tomato paste. Then 2 cups of water, bring to boil. Add 2 cups of instant rice. Return to boil. Turn stove off. Leave for 5-10 mins and we're good. Tastes different every time but usually pretty good.
  • Pork chops and mushroom soup (or chicken).. Put it in a casserole dish and cook for an hour.. That's all. Cook some rice to go with it. ANYTHING in the slow cooker. Tell him to experiment. Just put some meat in, veggies, season. Soup and sandwiches. Nachos with anything you want on it. Stir fry? He could buy some frozen veggies even.. Cook some neat up, add the veggies and buy some sauce that can be mixed in with it and served with rice or noodles

  • We make tacos a lot! Just brown some ground turkey, heat up a can of beans and prep toppings :)

  • I was going to suggest tacos also. And burritos. Both quick and minimal cooking.
  • Crockpot stuff is easy. One is buffalo chicken sandwiches.

    2lb chicken breast
    12oz buffalo wing sauce
    1 dry packet ranch.

    Cook in crock 4-6 hours. Shred=yum :)

  • Crock-pot recipes for sure!
Salsa chicken...cover chicken breast with any salsa. Cook on low, check temp after 3 hours. I would invest the $5 in a meat thermometer- that way you won't under/over cook.
Can also make pulled BBQ chicken the same way- cover chicken with your favorite BBQ sauce.
Chicken is done at 165 degrees or once it shreds easily with 2 forks, juices clear.

Chicken breast (4) + BBQ sauce + 1 can of crushed pineapple = Hawaiian BBQ Chicken :) Put in crock pot or oven

Pork tenderloin, wrap it in bacon, put it in the oven at 350 for about 20 - 30 min

1 bag of egg noodles, 4 boiled eggs chopped, 1 can of tuna, 1 can of mushroom soup and a little milk, mix these all together in a casserole dish, then  top with corn flakes, then cheese, bake for 30 min at 350. We call it company casserole. (I throw the eggs in with the noodles and cook them at the same time) Serve with ketchup. So yummy!

Heat oil in a pan, add garlic and onion, (you can add celery too if you want) then 1 lb of ground beef, cook beef through and drain if necessary. Add a can of diced tomatoes. Mix with elbow macaroni. I like ketchup and cheese and top.

Also if you're on pinterest (I'm frigging addicted to it) just search easy recipes and you'll get a ton of ideas!

It's nice that your DH is willing to learn to cook! Even if he has a couple recipes under his belt it will help out alot. :)

  • This is fairly simple and it's the one thing I make that my husband actually requests.  https://www.skinnytaste.com/2013/03/cheeseburger-casserole.html
  • You ladies amaze me.. I know this thread was meant to get easy recipes a H could follow.. But some of these may be simple enough that I won't eff them up! I thank you!
  • My H knows how to make a mean French toast and scrambled eggs. That's about it.

One year for our anniversary he actually cooked me a nice dinner. It was the best burnt steak and not cooked long enough mashed potatoes I've EVER had.
