What is your plan for transitioning to a toddler bed? It's not even on the radar for us until he starts climbing his crib, which he doesn't...yet. What cues are you waiting for? Any babes in big kid beds already?
I just saw a friend of mine transitioned her daughter, who is 18 months, into a toddler bed. That's right around the corner for us!
Re: Toddler bed
We'll get her a "big girl bed" (twin size bed) when we move to a house with a larger second bedroom. The bed she'll graduate to is one of the two Jenny Lind beds stored in my parents attic from when we were kids, or the daybed from my sister's college days that is stored in our basement. I am cheap.
With DD, we did move her at I think 22 months even though she wasn't trying to get out. But that was because DS was on the way and we didn't want her to feel like he stole her bed. She actually did really well with it. She napped better than she had been doing in her crib, and she didn't really get out of it until we started potty training several months later.
ETA: There really isn't room in the kids' room for two cribs because of where the windows and closets are located. Maybe we would have had two cribs for awhile if there had been room.
DD1&2 and DS are all in queen size beds. We will wait until after the move to switch Eryn, as her and Mallorie will have their own rooms. We built a house to fit everyone and have room to spare, all though it is just over half the size of the house we are in now.
I transition before they start climbing out due to a non personal experience, but one of my BIL`s friends had. I don`t want to give them the option of climbing out, as it scares the crap out of me.
