2 month shots today...screamed like crazy but was soothed with nursing. Slept for 4 hours and woke up with the worst, more horrifying cry I've heard. 45 minutes later I was able to soothe him briefly with nursing.
DH called the doc to ask about infant Tylenol dosage.
Thanks goodness. 2.5ml seemed like a lot so I gave 1.5ml...seems to have helped for now. Drunken/dopey baby is slowly opening his eyes and cooing.
I think it's going to be a long night. We better think of some great GTKYs!

I had to take DD to get her four 4yo shots, then two weeks later, baby's four 2m shots. I'm a pro now.
Should I give him another dose even if he isn't fussy? Is that ok to do? We'll be at the 4 hr mark in 30 minutes.
We go tomorrow too
For the aftermath of what happens after they wake up from that, no advice except for Tylenol at this point ;-)
Mine has been sleeping all day since her shots, waking only to eat. I have given her the Tylenol when she eats because I know she hurts by the way she is fussing in her sleep.
DS1 never fussed or needed Tylenol after his shots. He just slept a lot. Even at his 2 year appointment when he got his shots you never would've known he had them. He did always cry when getting the shots and calmed down within 2 minutes. So not all babies react to the shots. I can only hope for the same reaction with DS2 next week.
My doc did say that all LOs react one of two ways, either extreme fatigue or extreme fussiness. I feel like we are getting samplings of both.
Also notable with attire: after we got home he didn't want anything touching his sweet little legs (a shot in each thigh) so we just left him outfit wide open on the bottom. It helped comfort him and I think probably felt good to his hot little thighs.
We have only given 1.5ml of infant Tylenol so far at 7:45p. It's now 3:30a and he seems to be doing ok. A little more restless in his sleep though. If he wakes up enough to give him another half infant dose, I think I'm going to go head!
Don't you wish there was a way we could get the shots for them during pregnancy or something and have them all taken care if when they're born? Any resident scientists wanna work on that? :-)

Just because other people are reading this whose LOs haven't had their shots, I will say that our pediatrician said that Tylenol can lower the effectiveness of the vaccines and that we should only give it to DD if she was extremely fussy. We haven't needed to yet. Be sure to check with your pediatrician first!
Eta: if you ff, have a bottle ready and with you. The nurse kept telling me to nurse DD afterwards to make her feel better, but I can't. Having a bottle calmed her down when she was screaming after the shots.

**P/SAIF welcome!**
LO did really well as long as I was on top of the Tylenol. She just slept a lot and needed to be held more than normal.
I remember with DS, Tylenol always made him sleep so that was a plus! Seems like it will be the same with her. He never really got fussy but did run a low grade fever but I just kept up on Tylenol. And held him as much as possible. And will do same with her.
He wouldn't nurse right after so I just brought him right home. He fell asleep in the car and woke up ten minutes after being home (which is normal) He gave me big smiles when he woke up!
After he nursed I got him to sleep for about 45 minutes.
He woke up crying. (Unusual for him)
He ate again and was whimpering and making heartbreaking faces. Rocked him to sleep and I'm not putting him down the rest of the day!
No Tylenol needed yet.
DH is bringing some home after work just in case.
Pedi said a low grade fever is a good thing and not to give Tylenol unless he's really uncomfortable.
Good luck ladies!
