Bullied/Bully Gtky?

I'm "stealing" this post/topic from the Stay at Home Moms boards.

In school were you ever bullied or even by chance a bully? Did you stand by and let someone get bullied or did you step in and stop it? Ect

Re: Bullied/Bully Gtky?

  • Apparently I was a bully. But I like to think I just had a sense of humor beyond my years :) I am much more responsible now with my words than I was in HS

  • I was bullied throughout all my school years. However in 4th grade (just that one year) I was a bully to this girl...but in all "fairness" she bullied me to. It was just a vicious cycle...finally by the end of 4th grade we just droped it and became aqqauntices. From like 5th-7th or 8th a group a boys would just call me names and be just complete jerks to me. In high school there was this one chick who was just awful to me...broke me and my boyfriend up turned some of my friends on me. Excuse my language but she was a bitch.

  • Bullied all the time. Starting in first grade, all the way until hs graduation. It got worse the older I got, and unfortunately, with my mom as a teacher, she believed it "couldn't be that bad" and always told me to ignore it and it would stop. She didn't believe how bad it was until a few years ago. One of our neighbors (whose son was in my class and also bullied) told her how much she appreciated my kindness to her son. My mom asked what she was talking about, and his mom said that even though she knew it made things worse for me, she was glad he had had me as a friend. She told my mom some of the things that had happened to he and I and my mom called to apologize for not believing it was as bad as it was. Part of the reason I hate going "home" to visit is because I HATE that town and those memories so much.

Our lil' diva: late like her Momma: 40 weeks 5 days!
  • I was bullied all through school by different people. I was very shy and an easy target. One of the biggest bullies I've had was my cousin. We were in the same grade and she often stayed at my parent's place because her mom and dad would just dump her on us while they took off for weeks at a time. She bullied me at school and continued to do so when she came home with me. It was a nightmare. Once we hit Grade 5 it started to tapper off.
In the 9th grade I had my worst bully. He was awful. I don't really feel like writing about it.
I had other bullies do things like punch me in the head, stab me in the arm with a pencil, pull out some of my hair and take things from my lunch.
I stand up a lot more for myself now and I don't take shit from anyone.
  • Neither. If I was bullied I never realized it or didn't care. Knowing me I didn't give a shit. I've pretty much always stayed in the middle of the pack.

    +1

Unless you call being mean to my HS boyfriend bullying then I was a bully. I took advantage of that boy. I did apologize just a few years ago when I found him on FB.

  • I was bullied throughout most of elementary school and heading into middle school.  Nobody called me by my name - it was was always something insulting.  I was also really shy and so never said anything about it.  Then I switched schools (for unrelated reasons) and things got better.  Kids can be horrible.

  • I wouldn't say I was bullied. I was teased. In Kindergarten I had to wear an eye patch, with my bifocal glasses. Definitely heard my fair share of comments for that one. And, as I got older I was taller than all of the girls and the boys pretty much, add in glasses, braces, and advanced classes. I was a walking target. Even with all of that, I would never say I was bullied though. Too many people throw that word around willy nilly. I was teased by a few little jerks.. sure it sucked, but it isn't something that still affects me.
  • Starting to feel like a jerk...

  • I think I was extremely lucky.  I went to an elementary school where it was cool to be different and cool to be in the honors classes.  I remember being so upset because I didn't get into the honors math class in 5th grade because that's where the popular group was, but at least I was in honors English so I still got to hang with them.

Also, my ears stuck out as a kid.  I was teased a tiny bit but nothing that really bothered me.  I knew my ears were different so I acknowledged it instead of trying to hide it.  Then I had my ears pinned back in third grade.  I had to wear this ridiculous headband/sweatband thing to keep my ears down for two weeks.  I don't remember anyone teasing me and remember being proud of the headband, which I would be terribly embarrassed to wear now.

If I had grown up anywhere else, I would have been bullied mercilessly, I'm sure.
  • Neither, I had a reputation for sticking up against bullies. Me and my big mouth :)

I was always the one being bullied. So many names I was called. But if someone else was being bullied, I stood up for them. Just not myself.

ETA - my friends were the worst bullies in middle school. Then half way through grade 7 we moved very far away and the bulling got worse. It got physical and my gym teacher was in on it. I started standing up for myself but that made it worse. So that's when I started home schooling. Life was extremely lonely until I moved away for college.

I would let you guess but that would be hard right?

    Ummmm Bully.
    :::hangs head in shame:::

But in my defense I am just outspoken and always have been. I would stick up for others though who were bullied. :P
  • I was mercilessly bullied throughout elementary for being a soccer playing tomboy and throughout middle school for being fat. I developed early and rocked a C cup by 7th grade. One boy would torment me by yelling "Jenny Craig!" as I walked down the halls. I was called a dyke because of the pixie haircut I had for a while. I never told a soul because my young self was so ashamed that I made people feel the need to hurt me like that. :(

Alas, I fought for the underdogs. One day, a girl was verbally abusing a boy about his lunch choices. "No wonder you're so fat, Josh-look what you're eating." Her name was Lucy, lol. I told her off big time and she apologized.

  • I was a slight bully in elementary school, and we thought it was all fun and games. I remember being the butt of jokes in middle school because I was smart and a nerd.
