STMs-Contractions...

Stupid Question...But I really do not Know...how do you know if it is a contraction?

I have been feeling pains in my back that travels up to neck... and I literally just stop moving until its gone... this has been happening randomly...

Are these contractions? I thought they were back spasms because I just assumed contractions would be a pain near my girl parts...but am I wrong? Is there such a thing as back contractions?

I know I sound stupid but I honestly do not know. When I ask my friends that are Moms they just say you will know it when you feel it...well this back pain can get pretty intense...
