Bangs or no bangs? (NBR, and kinda PIP heavy)

Or a fringe, or whatever you call these things ... as a followup to my Monday Bitchfest post, I wanted to solicit the opinion of random strangers as to my hairstyle ;-)

Excuse my terrible selfies, and I totally rolled out of bed this morning, so the hair didn't get much effort put into it :-P

And I don't really have any good pics of my hair before - suffice to say, I pretty much always wore it in a ponytail.

For your trouble, here's my latest favorite squish pic - rocking @Acrosthec's wonderful secret santa PJs:

  • I vote no bangs

I really like this hairstyle with the shape of your face - bangs included! I don't mean this in a mean way, but your forehead isn't small, so I think you look better with bangs than without.

I also think it looks good, with the minimal effort - my kind of hairstyle :)

All of this. Also I think the bangs really work with your glasses.

  • I think you look good with bangs AND without bangs. Gotta love a hairstyle that looks good with minimal effort! So jealous!

I am very aware of my big ol' forehead :-P  That's part of the reason I wanted to give bangs a whirl.  That, and I have a pretty long face in general, so I figured they'd work.

    I <3 minimal effort.

  • The bangs are cute, but I think you look younger without them.  So I guess it depends on what you're going for.  The nice thing about the bangs is that you have flexibility to pin them up and go without or leave them down.  As they grow, you can part them to the side, which might be cute too.

Have fun with them...maybe your H will start to like them when he sees all the different "looks" you can do with them.
  • Your DH is wrong, this is a great haircut. It looks really nice all down and normal but it also looks super cute with your bangs clipped back. Who doesn't love a versatile cut?

I agree that you look younger without the bangs, but not sure how old you are and how old you would like to look. I get mistaken for much younger than my age frequently and I know one day I'll be loving it, but now I don't like it when I am trying to be professional or not looking like a teen mom.

I'm 28 and not really fussed either way. I work on a university campus so there are a huge range of ages around so I feel like I'd "fit in" either way.

  • I think the bangs are chic and frame your face well. Your H needs to stop.

When I woke up this morning, my hair had reverted to it's normal part down the middle - which made the bangs more frame-y and not so bang-like.  DH is coming around to them I think.  Maybe.  Or he's just being slightly more full of tact then Sunday.

ETA: Though at the same time, he told me this is what my hair reminded him of last night:

  • You look great with the bangs but... You do look very different maybe your DH just needs some time to adjust. Also you can pin them back when you don't feel like messing with them win win.

  • Since you already have them, I say bangs.  I have almost got mine grown back out, Thank You Prenatal Vitamins!  Bangs are the bain of my existence!  I hate them.  But again, growing out Bangs is worse than getting bangs.

    You look great either way.

If you're going to keep the bangs, I would suggest growing them out and keeping them more at eyelash level.  That style is more modern and "on trend" days.  It can get annoying to get used to though.

ETA: I meant brow bone level where the top of your eyelashes graze the top of your lid.
I'm sure they'll get to that length sooner than I expect!  Good to know - I'm totally fashion backwards.  I'll keep this in mind when I feel like it's time for a trim!  Thanks :-)

OMG yes.  I had bangs for the first time since I was 7 a couple years back.  I ached for the day that I could pull them back into a ponytail.  And then I went and got them again ;-)  Growing out bangs is hands down worse than getting them in the first place.

  • I vote no bangs... But I'm biased because I tried bangs myself and hated them and they room forever to grow out! So I always vote no bangs. Although side bangs are different, sometimes I like them... Which has nothing to do with anything.

  • You look way better and younger without bangs :). I'm currently growing mind out :/. Hormonal mistake.... :(
  • I don't think you have a big forehead at all!!! Having said that, I prefer no bangs.

    +1
