Postpartum Depression

PPD or normal?

I had the Baby Blues really bad, but it got much better around the 2 week point.  Now, I'm 10 weeks PP, and I still have these crying spells and get major anxiety over things I can't really control.  It's not every day, only like once or twice a week.  Tonight I started crying because I feel so out of control that my DD didn't really follow the schedule that I thought she would be on today.  I just feel really stress about things, probably about 30-40% if the time.  It usually doesn't make me break down and cry, but I do have that feeling.  Is this normal PP hormones, or should I talk to a doctor?

  • I think everyone has stress when it comes to a baby, especially if your a FTM (not sure if you are or not). I'd see a doctor just to be sure. It doesn't hurt. Even if you don't have PPD, but you are upset, talk to someone. Sometimes it helps to just talk to someone about your feelings and experiences.

  • Thank you. I still go through times where I am extemely stressed that I've done something wrong. Would I talk to my OB first if I go to a doctor for this? I do have a prescription for Lexapro that I was given at my 2 week PP appointment. He said to only use it if I really felt like I need it. I've been putting it off to see if my feelings have gotten better. I think they really have, it's just once or twice a week now that I feel that way. It used to be every night.
