Freaking out! *updated*

So, last Thursday I noticed this cluster of red bumps up near my hairline on my forehead. I thought maybe I was having a breakout and didnt think much about it. Well, this weekend, I noiced some more bumps a lit lower and one just below my eyebrow. The bumps have stated to itch badly and are very painful to the touch.

I asked the school nurse to look at them this morning and she seemed very concerned. She said that there is a possability that I have shingles! I got an appointment to see the doctor this afternoon but I've been freaking out all day. What if I give LO chickenpox? Also, I am supposed to be around my elderly grandparents and older parents for Christmas but now I'm worried about spreading it to them :-(

*ALL THE CURSE WORDS!!!11!!1 So it turns out that I DO have shingles. I am beyond upset. The hardest thing for me right now besides the pain and the itching is the fact that I won't be able to breastfeed for about 10 days because of the steroids and other medicine. How come when it rains it f-info pours!!!

    If it makes you feel better I used to get bumps by my hair line while I was pregnant and after too.  Maybe its nothing!

    I hope for you it is not shingles. Hubby had it last year and it's very painful.

    I really hope it's not shingles but if it is you can't give someone them or chicken pox. My FIL got them right before R was born and went to the doctor (first time he ever went voluntarily) and asked specifically about being near a baby. The doctor said the only way to give someone the virus is if one of the blisters is open and oozing/bleeding and it gets into an open wound of another person. I really hope it's not shingles because they are super painful

    that sucks! I'm sorry you're having to go through that. I hope it clears up soon and won't be too bad. did they say anything about it being contagious as chicken pox to your LO?

    That is awful. I had shingles a few years ago and it sucked. Aveeno oatmeal lukewarm baths, Dermoplast, and painkillers helped but it took about two weeks for the pain to go away. I hope you get better quickly!

    I hope you feel better! What crappy timing.

    I remember getting chicken pox. Iwas so bummed because it was over Christmas break and I didn't get to miss school like my friends. ;)

    Thanks ladies! I'm having a major pity party for myself over here ;-). My nanny just called and said that since she's never had Chicken pox, that she's not coming this week. Looks like more time off work for me. I normally wouldn't mind, but with a field trip and holiday parties this week, it is not a good time.

    Yes, it is contagious so Emmett could pick up Chicken pox from me. The dr said that since he's EBF that there is a better chance that he won't get it but I will just have to wait and see I guess. :-(

    Luckily, he does take a bottle, and I do have frozen milk stored up, I'm just not sure if it's enough. Sigh...

    Yes, I could technically BF with just the shingles, the problem is all the medication that I'm on. However, I'm going to try to seethe light at the end of the tunnel every time I pour my BM down the drain. Every night wth dinner, wine. And for dessert? More and more wine ;-). Plus, guess who's getting up with him in the MOTN the next week? Daddy!

    At least they caught it early! I had them a few years ago and if you can start the meds right away, it stops progressing. For me, I just had that initial patch, and it never got worse after starting the meds. Sorry you'll miss the opportunity to BF over the winter break. :(
