AW Alert: WTF Appointment...

Hi Girls, sorry to be such a PW lately. There really is no point to this post... Just putting it out there in the hopes that it'll make me feel a little better. It's been a little (a lot) rough around here as we do our best to pick up the pieces after Monday... getting canceled before ET was/is a horrible blow. We are still heartbroken and stunned.

We had our WTF appointment yesterday... feel free to read about it in my blog (link in siggy or mobile bumpies click here). The cliff notes version: Doc thinks egg quality is our issue and offered three options (IVF with PGD, IUI+injects, donor eggs). We got a copy of our records (that file is THICK! A lot of paper!!) and have appointments set up with three other clinics to get a second (third & fourth) opinion. We are not going to move forward with IVF#3 until we have a rock solid plan and a decent amount of hope to go on. In the meantime, we are going to do another IUI with our current doctor.

I cannot believe this is happening... I'm just praying for our miracle to come along... I don't care how, just want it to happen before my heart can't be glued back together anymore. I'm sending a lot of love and luck out to everyone here hoping that our miracles are on the way very, very soon.

I'm glad that you have a plan for your next cycle, and that you have some consults set up for more opinions. I started taking coq10 after my mc because I've been wondering/concerned about egg quality too. Hope your IUI works and you don't need to worry about the second opinions!

@calindi, thanks for mentioning the L-Arginine, I've never heard of it! I've been on CoQ10 ever since my WTF from IVF#1... hopefully it's helping. I actually asked my current doctor about mini-IVF and he said that was a possibility for us. Before moving forward with another round of IVF, I want to consult several doctors so I can get lots of opinions. So, for now, IUI it is!

I've been thinking about you this week. I'm so glad that you have a short term plan and several options for a long term plan. I can relate to the frustration, but having any plan in place seems to help me start mentally moving forward.

Just to offer the other side of the supplements story, I've been on DHEA, CoQ10, and L-Arganine since the beginning of September. Given my results last cycle, I'm not sure they're doing much for me, but it can't hurt!

Late to the party, but here is what supplements I am taking for "egg quality."

300mg of ubiquinol (advanced form CoQ10)

2000mg of L-Arginine

Vitamin C (labeled dosage)

Myo Inositol (I am taking powdered form that I found online at the labeled dosage)

This is all in addition to my PNV and extra DHA.

I will warn you that the L-Arginine that I bought tastes like crap (even though it is capsules) and gives me burps that taste like crap. It's worth it though if it helps with my egg quality.

No problem. Most of my supplements came as suggestions from @calindi and my own research, my clinic isn't big on supplements. I ran most of them through my RE (or nurse) to get the ok before starting them.

Another supplement I am going to take is melatonin, but only during my cycle (I usually take it during down regulation anyway because lupron + bcp gives me insomnia). I have read that long term melatonin use isn't a great idea.
