daycare gift card amount

Help!
I want to just get Visa gift cards for Paige's teachers but I just don't the right amount to get. She has 3 teachers and 1 part time teachers. and I LOVE them, they do a fantastic job. I originally was thinking $50 each for the main teachers and $ 25 for the part time. Is this enough? too much? too little?
This is my first rodeo and I just don't know what is appropriate?

Re: daycare gift card amount

  • I am trying to figure this out too.  I think we landed on $30 for the three head teachers.  Not sure if we'll do anything for the part timers, because honestly, I've barely even met them.

  • I think $50 for the lead teachers is a fair amount.

  • As a lead daycare teacher, I am always so grateful for any amount. Just the thought is so nice!! There are many parents who won't even wish us a Merry Christmas/happy holiday.
  • That seems fine to me.

  • DD's class has one main teacher and another one who covers her breaks/lunches etc. We're doing $50 for the main teacher and $25 for the other one. I'll also bake some cookies for them as well.

  • I am doing $20 per teacher. Between both kids, I have 7 teachers to buy for.

This is so amazing to me, but I guess there are a lot of a-holes in the world.  But why you wouldn't treat your child's caretakers with love is totally beyond me.  I ADORE the three lead teachers in LO's daycare -- like, I trust them with my child's LIFE every day, and I know that they truly love him and take good care of him... I can't imagine not treating them with love and kindness and respect... or at least manners.

I think like I said above I'll do some cash or GCs but also maybe do a basket of nice hand lotions or something, since it is winter in MN and they must wash their hands ten trillion times a day.

  • My plan is to give $25 gift cards for the main teachers. And then like others we have several others that come in and sub at lunches and end of the day etc. so I plan to bring in donuts and then healthier items like banana and yogurt for all the staff. I know I worked as an elem teacher for 5 yrs and I appreciated any gifts I received. Most folks that gave gift cards to me were typically about $20

It is very sad. We are a small center (20 kids)so it isn't like we aren't all close. We have had some families for 5 years and not even a Christmas card from them. To be honest it really hurts our feelings because we love their children and care for them 50 hours a week. But don't get me wrong we have so AWESOME parents to make up for it!Luckily we are in it for the children not the parents :)
