Making a home Monday ~~~ Laundry edition

1. Do you wash new clothes or wear them straightaway?

Wash- I don't like new clothing smell

2.) Did you know that there could be up to a gram of feces in your washer from underwear?

That is why underwear should be washed separately and on the hottest temp possible.

3. Do you wash LO's clothes seperate from the rest?

Yes- because I have him on a fragrance free gentle detergent.

4. Do you ever wash the washer?

Yes with a hot water and bleach cycle but usually only after illness.

  • 1) Wear. I used to wash DDs when she was a little baby, but I don't even bother with hers anymore. Ain't nobody got time fo' dat.

    2) Gross? We use a laundromat and I am always grossed out by the possibilities. I wipe everything out with Clorox wipes before I use.

    3) I did until she was around 18m, but once again "Ain't nobody got time fo' dat"

    4) Clorox wipes counts, right? I love your bleach cycle. I would do that regularly if I had a washer.. Ugh, not having a washer / dryer/ dishwasher is pretty much the #1 reason I hate renting. Damnit.

  • 1. Do you wash new clothes or wear them straightaway?

I wear them straight away. DH wants his washed before he will wear them.

    2. Did you know that there could be up to a gram of feces in your washer from underwear?

You have now totally freaked out this germaphobe!!

    3. Do you wash LO's clothes separate from the rest?

I used to when she was a baby. I stopped when she was around 2 1/2.

    4. Do you ever wash the washer?

I have used those tide tabs, but I use oxyclean in most of my washes, so I figure it is getting somewhat clean--I hope!

  • 1. Do you wash new clothes or wear them straightaway?

I wash em.  I'm one of those weird anti-chemicals freaks. :)

    2. Did you know that there could be up to a gram of feces in your washer from underwear?

I did not but we cloth diapered, so I'm pretty at peace with fecal matter in the washer.

    3. Do you wash LO's clothes separate from the rest?

I used to but not anymore.

    4. Do you ever wash the washer?

Sometimes but not often.  I have a "clean washer cycle" intended for bleach and hot water, and I run that whenever I forget about a load of wet laundry and end up with a lingering mildew smell stuck in the washer drum.

  • 1. Do you wash new clothes or wear them straightaway?
I'm like a kid at Christmas when it comes to new clothes-- sometimes I'll even forget to rip off the tags.

2.) Did you know that there could be up to a gram of feces in your washer from underwear?
I did not know this.  Probably more in mine since I used to cloth diaper.

    3. Do you wash LO's clothes seperate from the rest?
Nope.  We use the same detergent.

    4. Do you ever wash the washer?
I did it once after we purchased it second hand.  Maybe one of these days I'll do it again, you know, when I have nothing else to do ;)
  • 1. Do you wash new clothes or wear them straightaway?
Wear them!  I hate that washing clothes changes them, so I always get at least one wear in that looks like how it looked when I tried it on.

    2. Did you know that there could be up to a gram of feces in your washer from underwear?
Oh NO!! And I do clothe diapers, so I'm sure it's more!!!  Aaahhh!  I must clean the washer… how do I do that?

    3. Do you wash LO's clothes separate from the rest?
Yes, but only because I keep a basket in his room and it's easier to sort and put away when I do it in it's own cycle.  But, I will combine laundry if it needs it to fill the load or whatever.

    4. Do you ever wash the washer?
I didn't know I was supposed to…  oops!  But I will figure it out and wash it now!

  • 1. Do you wash new clothes or wear them straightaway?

Mostly wear... But it may depend.

2.) Did you know that there could be up to a gram of feces in your washer from underwear?

No, I was not aware and I am not sure how I feel about it.

    3. Do you wash LO's clothes separate from the rest?

I did when he was a baby, but not now.

    4. Do you ever wash the washer?

Yikes, I haven't done this for awhile, I should probably do it, especially after Q #2.  I do wipe it down once a month.

  • 1.I wash underwear, but not new clothes. I have no idea why. I just feel like I want clean stuff next to my valuable area. But I have seen plenty of Dateline specials that highlight the gross stuff on clothes. Ew. I pretend like I never saw it :)'

2.I did not know that. I guess I am just going to pretend I didn't read that and live in germ-filled bliss.

3.We did when she was younger and had SUPER sensitive skin. Now my work clothes (I'm a Nurse) and DH's work clothes (construction) get washed on their own. Our daily clothes and pajamas get washed all together.

4.Well the feces that's probably hanging out in there definitely is making me think about doing this ASAP. Occasionally I run an empty load of hot water and soap. But I am thinking I need to do that more often!

2.) Did you know that there could be up to a gram of feces in your washer from underwear? That's nasty, and I'm going to pretend I didn't learn this today. Ignorance is bliss.

    3. Do you wash LO's clothes seperate from the rest? I try to keep kids clothes separate from my and MH's just for ease of folding and putting away.

    4. Do you ever wash the washer? Lol, I really need to up my housecleaning compared to a lot of you ladies! I'm a SAHM/WAHM and feel like all I do all day every day is pick up, but never actually clean.

    1. Do you wash new clothes or wear them straightaway? I'm a go ahead a wear it person.

2.) Did you know that there could be up to a gram of feces in your washer from underwear?

I just gagged. KC, I could've gone the rest of my life not knowing that, haha! I was underwear, socks and towels separate and on hot.

    3. Do you wash LO's clothes seperate from the rest?

No, I wash all of our clothes together.

    4. Do you ever wash the washer?

I have when I have to wash hunting or four wheeling clothes but I just run the washer with detergent on full and with hot water.

    BTW, I'm doing laundry now.

  • 1. Do you wash new clothes or wear them straightaway?  I wash, except sometimes brand new dresses. 2.) Did you know that there could be up to a gram of feces in your washer from underwear? Gross. I don't even want to think about how researchers measured that..   3. Do you wash LO's clothes seperate from the rest? Not anymore. 4. Do you ever wash the washer? FFMC: DH does most of the laundry, so I don't know how or if he cleans the washer. I never have but figure regular loads of whites with hot water and bleach probably helps a bit.

  • 1. Wear. I don't buy new clothes for myself very often so when I do, I can't wait to wear it! I always wash new clothes for Jeffrey first though.

    2. Eek! Did not know that!

    3. Used to wash Jeffrey's clothes separately but not anymore.

    4. Yes, we run the cleaning cycle

I'm mobile tonight so excuse the laziness, but these would be my answers also lol :-)
  • 1. Do you wash new clothes or wear them straightaway?

Usually wear.  They never look the same again after washing and Im usually too excited to wait.

2.) Did you know that there could be up to a gram of feces in your washer from underwear?

I did not.  But like someone else said, I cloth diaper and am at peace with it.  We've survived thus far.

    3. Do you wash LO's clothes seperate from the rest?
Usually, except for the stuff that ends up in our bedroom with our dirty clothes.

    4. Do you ever wash the washer?

I have once to get buildup out, but haven't since.

I hope you like it!  I personally loved it.  I was afraid whenever we went all in with the CDing that I might regret it but I think it's one of the best decisions I made (and DH went along with) with DS.  While I don't miss the laundry most of the time, I did get pretty sad packing away all of his diapers once he was fully PTed.  They're so stinkin cute!
