I thought the trouble sleeping came later, but between hip pain, weird dreams and just not being able to get comfortable, my sleep is so disrupted. Anyone else have this problem this early?
Since about week 10. One if the ladies suggested the 5,4,3,2,1 method, and it helps me some, but not always. Basically, you close your eyes and visualize yourself someplace relaxing, like the beach. Going with the season, I've been picturing a cabin in the woods with snow outside. Tell yourself five things you see, five things you hear, five things you feel. Then do four o each, then three of each, etc until you either get to one or you are asleep. I can't remember the website that had it on there, but hopefully one of the ladies can help out there.
Welcome to the club I've had trouble since the beginning, though it's not every single night. I seem to have problems for a few nights in a row, then get tired enough that I sleep decently for a couple of nights, then it starts over again. I can fall asleep just fine but once I'm up in the middle of the night, I can't seem to get back to sleep. Gas, back pain, and congestion don't help.
When we get to the stage where people start saying "enjoy the rest now, while you still can!" I'm going to end up slapping someone.
I've been having trouble sleeping since 8weeks! It's crazy! The body discomfort is starting up now, but before I had trouble staying asleep between runs to the bathroom and weird dreams.
Ditto! I bought a snoogle around week 16, and it's really been a lifesaver. I know not everyone likes them, but it keeps me on my side and I wake up probably every two hours to switch sides. Now, some nights are worse than others, if I have a night full of vivid dreams, I tend to wake up more. I also tend to pee more during the week at night. Also, it could be temperature. DH thinks I'm bat shit crazy right now, it's been below 30 at night for several days and I've got the window cracked and I'm practically naked. He's under two blankets. heh.
@SpacePotatoes I get that from a lot of co-workers and when they remark get used to it, I usually reply that I don't have a choice now, and that won't change when the baby comes. It usually shuts them up and makes them realize it was not a helpful response. If you don't want an honest answer to how I'm feeling, don't ask. I'm not providing rainbow shits and puppy dog tails to anyone about how rough pregnancy has been on my body, personally. They all want that smile, that I love it, it's great. Truthfully, I HATED being pregnant until my 24/7 MS started to fade two weeks ago. When we found out we were having a little girl yesterday and we gave her her name, it made a huge difference in my psyche.
@alphalyrae You're so right about what people want to hear! I have a few people that keep going on about how beautiful pregnancy is and how it was just the most amazing thing ever and aren't I just loving it sooooo much? I will answer honestly and say no, it actually doesn't feel beautiful at all. Then it gets awkward. Oh well, we can't all be pregnant unicorns!

This. I always slept better after the baby was born. My body was my own again. An hour of two of good quality sleep was always better to me than 6-7 hours of tossing/turning shit sleep.
I had this really early on between NEEDING grapes and pretzels at 3am and back pain. My snoogle was a life saver for the latter and I slept amazing for a few weeks. This entire week though, between tossing and turning, leg cramps, braxton hicks and REALLY weird dreams, good sleep has been hard to come by.
I've never been a fantastic sleeper but I've been having awful sleep since like 12 weeks. Ridiculously uncomfortable, back and hip pain, waking up. It all stinks.
Me too...my hips have been hurting so I've been sleeping with a pillow between my knees which helps. If I get up to pee though, it takes forever to get back to sleep. Gonna try that 5,4,3,2,1 thing mentioned above!
I've had to pee a minimum of once a night since 5 weeks so sleeping has been fun. Sometimes I do sleep through the night if I'm dehydrated or exhausted but the I feel like my bladder is going to explode when I wake up.
Yes! Im 18 wks 2 d and over the past few days I've been having the worst time sleeping because my back and hips hurt so damn bad to the point that I just want to cry. I toss and turn all night and I'm slowly beginning to accumulate more pillows to sleep with at night and seriously thinking of investing in a snoogle. My husband keeps trying to make advances too and I'm just not interested because my libido is so low, and nobody wants to get it on when they're in this much pain.
I'm 18 wks and have had trouble sleeping for a few weeks now. Whatever side I fall asleep on ends up hurting halfway through the night and then I have to pee more so whenever I get up, it takes me at least an hour to fall back to sleep.
I'm halfway through 16 weeks and my hips and lower back have been tormenting me lately. I toss and turn most of the night and it doesn't help that our mattress is old and needs replacing.
DH is taking me mattress hunting this week (our early Christmas present for each other)
Not sure if I want to go posturpedic or pillow top. Any recommendations?
I've been having trouble for weeks now. Not to mention that falling asleep takes hours! I have a body pillow but might need to ask for a pregnancy pillow for Christmas.
Same here. I toss and turn. Hips ache so bad. I accidently slept on my back for a couple hours because my hips hurt that bad. I think with Christmas money, we are getting a mattress topper that's nice and fluffy.
I couple days ago, I responded to this post saying a pillow between my knees helped. However, last night, I was up like every hour...I may actually move on to the Snoogle tonight.
Re: 19 weeks and already having trouble sleeping!
