After 5 days of contractions off and on, Shelby finally made her arrival on Monday the 9th! I was due on Christmas, so she came at 37+5(DS was 37 exactly). I went in Monday am at about 5:30. Contractions every 3-4min. My cervix was 4 and 80%. They had me walk for a few hours, then they re-checked me. My OB was on call that day so she was at the hospital. I had progressed to 5-6cm so they admitted me. My OB broke my water to get things moving since I'd been contracting for 5 days. When she checked me before she broke my water I was at 7cm. An hour later my contractions were slowing so they started pitocin (I asked for the epidural then). After an hour on pitocin I was still a 7 and contractions weren't that bad. I could feel them because I asked for the lowest dose for the epi. Well, five min. After the nurse checked me I had a contraction that I felt I needed to push with. After the 2nd one I told DH to go get the nurse. She came back in and I was complete! They paged the OB but she was off the floor. I thought Shelby was going to come out before she got there! When my OB finally got there I pushed 4 times and she was out! I had a small episiotomy because her shoulder was stuck. But overall it was a very easy delivery (I pushed for 2 hours and had a severe 3rd degree tear/hemorrhaging with my son). We are home and doing great!
