Napping help

My twins are almost 12 weeks old. They are almost sleeping through the night and both babies do wonderfully in their cribs at night. They also typically fall asleep on their own for naps during the day. Here's where I need help:
One baby wakes EVERY nap time after only 30-45 minutes of napping. I have tried rocking her, holding her, putting her in a swing, Patting and shushing her, feeding her, and NOTHING gets her back to sleep. She has never napped more than 30-45 minutes, expect for maybe twice since she was a newborn. I just started letting her cry a couple of days ago for a frw minutes at a time in her crib, but it seems like that sometimes wakes up our other baby.
I can tell that she needs the sleep because she cries on and off the whole rest of "naptime" and she looks miserable. She then crashes shortly after our next feeding. I want her to be happy all day like she is first thing in the morning.
Any help/tips?

Also, they are on a 3-hour feeding schedule. Not sure if that matters.

  • What helped me in the early days was to let them nap in separate areas.  One baby would be in the pack n play in the living room and the other in a swing or crib in another room.  It is also helpful to know that everyone has sleep cycles which run approximately 30-45 minutes throughout a nap time or while they sleep at night. So, your baby may stir or cry after sleeping for 30 minutes, but if allowed she will settle herself back to sleep and should sleep for another cycle or two.
