Christmas Gifts

What are you getting your LOs this year? Ds outgrew his 12 inch bike so we bought him a 14 inch one. Other than that, we did a good job of keeping it small. We bought him a few Thomas toys, his own lantern for camping, and a board game. He is really into decorating and getting into the holiday spirit this year.

    We manage to not spoil him throughout the year, so we splurged a bit. I'm sure that will be more difficult when he can actually ask for things. :)

    His big gift is the cozy coupe car. We bought him a couple of wooden toys from Ikea, the Little People amusement park set, a wooden puzzle, a Thomas train, a little fire truck house where the truck goes down the ramps, a "see and say" and a little Megablocks wagon that I found new in packaging at a yard sale. He will probably be most interested in the box that the cozy coupe comes in.

    We got LO an exersaucer, play mat, and an Anywhere chair (she's too small for it I know, but I couldn't resist).

    I'm such a slacker...still working on it! His big gift is a play kitchen ( he loves opening and closing cabinets and drawers and hiding things). Then I got him a little people truck and some slippers... I don't think I will go too crazy where he still is pretty clueless about the whole thing! :P

    Since DD is the only grandchild on my side (I'm and only) and the only granddaughter on DH's side, she gets fairly spoiled by both sets of grandparents.

    Since she is still very little, I got her a Dora backpack with map, a few Sesame Street figurines, a big box of crayons and sunglasses and left the major toys to grandparents.  I know that sounds awful, but honestly, our house has a lot of toys already, and to buy her a bunch of crap just didn't make sense yet.  We will step it up as she gets older and has things that she specifically wants, kwim?

    So far: clothes. I plan on getting lots of books, a potty chair, some new toys etc.

    We are not buying him much. He doesn't really need or want anything so he's getting a wooden train set, books, and an engineer hat and bandana set. He is spoiled by both our families and he has a birthday 5 weeks after Christmas, so I don't want to go crazy.

    We got LO Sassy's first books, 3 sleepers, shirts, a bunch of toys, Summer Infant Seat, bath stuff and lotion, and even though he won't be using them right away spoons, plates and bowls.

    We got her a couple of Disney princess dress up sets (Halloween sale!), a Rapunzel doll, some headphones, a floor puzzle, a floor mat game, a water coloring pad, and a hobby horse.  We kept buying stuff because we have so much fun with it, and she's the only grandchild on both sides, so she gets spoiled at Christmas...

    DS tends to get toys intermittently through the year so we tend to keep it small.  He's getting a bigger Lego set from Santa, small lego set from us, 2 books with a beanbag chair, Spot-It game and PJ's (to open on Christmas Eve night).  His stocking is mostly useful stuff---pencils, glitter glue, toothbrush/toothpaste and a small amount of candy.
    Grandmas/Grandpas however are another story!  I think this kid is going to be putting together lego sets until summer!!

    LO is still pretty oblivious. He doesn't 'want' anything. I've even shown him the toy catalogs. Doesn't care. We're enjoying that while we can.

    He's the only grandchild on both sides, so originally we were just getting him a stuffed animal from his favorite show and calling it good. We're really over-extended right now.

    But in the process of exposing him to Christmas shows and Christmas books, the subject of stockings keeps coming up, so we went ahead and bought him a few stuffers for that too. Some dry erase placemats. A Blue's Clues notebook. A Mickey Mouse Club DVD.

    We gave her an art desk/easel since the winter here is brutal.  We want her to have something to occupy her time.

    Honestly, we're hardly getting DS anything.  He is getting some bath toys and that is it.

    I know it sounds horrible, but grandparents go WAY overboard.  Since he just turned 2, he won't notice this year that mom and dad didn't get him anything, and he honestly just does not need a single thing.  His birthday was a month ago too.

    I think DH and I will use Easter as our opportunity to splurge on gifts for DS.  We will use the occasion to get him set up with clothes and toys for the summer season.

    we got DD this cute little tricycle as her "big gift". the rest of the gifts are sports toys, musical toys, and a mini art set :) i'm all about the expanding her horizons thing lol.
