November 2013 Moms

just threw dh out of bed.

Dh started rolling from his side to his back and for some reason I thought the baby was there so I started shoving dh off the bed and yelling his name. He jumped out completely confused. I then realized nothing was there and that lo was sleeping soundly in his cosleeper next to the bed. Ive done this several times this week. I don't sleep with the baby in bed but I keep waking up suddenly thinking I forgot to put him back. A few nights ago I woke up 3-4 Times within 5 minutes thinking the baby was in bed but realized it was the dog. I even tried nursing the dog at the beginning of the week and was completely confused and frustrated that she wouldn't latch on( 6lb Yorkiepoo-So not too hard to confuse the two in your sleep). I don't know if this is ppa or just lack of sleep but I Hope it goes away soon. I did this really bad with ds1 even tho he slept in his own room So I never brought him into bed with me.

Re: just threw dh out of bed.

  • For a while I would think that my pillow was the baby.  It went away as she got bigger and heavier, and harder to confuse the two.

  • That used to happen to me at almost every nighttime feeding! I always thought my pillow was the baby! It happens very rarely now (if ever) at 8 weeks old.
  • Same happens here. I wake up and think I've fallen asleep after nursing and that LO's in the bed (which we've never done). I then see him in the RnP next to my bed and think DH got him out of my arms and blearily thank him for doing so. It takes his complete lack of recognition for me to realize I'm the one who put him there. This happens several times a week!

  • I've had two times I've fallen asleep while nursing LO on DH's side. I was panicked both times until I confirmed LO was a healthy pink. One of those times DH had rolled over on LO in part, but LO handled it: his diaper overflowethed, the smell or his grunts woke me up, so I woke DH up to roll back and take his poopy shirt off. BTW - I reserved a PPA workbook from the library - motivated in part by your posts and wanting to keep on top of it (I'm well day to day for the most part, but feel the anxiety increase when I think of future expectations). Re: nursing the dog - when you I look back at this time you'll have some funny stories!!

  • I woke up to DH shaking the bed one of the first nights. I was wondering what was wrong so I woke him up to ask him. Then it hit me. He was rocking the baby... Who was sound asleep in her own bed!!

I have woken up a few times thinking the baby was beside me, or in DH's arms, or in between us and freaked out a bit.a few times I've said In My sleep to DH make sure you don't fall asleep there like that, waking Hubs up, meanwhile LO was safely In his bassinet each time. Amazing what our minds convince us is happening with lack of sleep and general worry
  • Wow.....

I am I the only one who co sleeps?

I know exactly where both of the babies are, and sleep on my side facing them and don't roll over or anything.
