Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Water

My dd loves water and she is a little over 8 months. I don't give her much, about an ounce each meal, but she definitely wants more. Someone to.d me after 9 months they can have as much as they want but I have heard after 12months?!?! What have you ladies heard?

I've heard no more than 2 oz a day. Is she BF or FF?

  • I think she could probably have a little more at each meal, but I wouldn't give her unlimited water just yet.

  • I wouldn't do unlimited yet but I offer a sippy with an ounce or 2 after each puree/solid meal.  Sometimes DD drinks up and sometimes she pushes it away and fusses for formula.

  • My DD is 8 months. She drinks about 4 oz a day. My pedi said she could have up to 5 oz since she was 4 months old. I give her as much as she wants though, she just happens to have about 4 oz a day after drinking it with meals and such.

  • My pedi said 4 oz a day was fine. My little guy just turned 8 months old yesterday.

  • My pedi said no more than a couple of ounces, but also said since we EBF, LO should have her cereal mixed with water instead of milk so that she can get the flouride.
