We've had several Chicco Nextfits since this past summer. The straps still seem kind of hard to tighten. They loosened up a tiny bit at first, but not much. Anyone else having this issue?
We have a "process" for tighten the straps. It was a little annoying at first but now we got it down it goes a lot smoother.
We put our son in the car seat and fasten the crotch buckles for both sides. Then we slide the chest clip pieces and the padding all the way down to his lap. Use both hands to tighten down the straps then slide the padding and chest clip into place.
This is a very common complaint with this seat. Chicco came out with new, softer strap covers. Contact Chicco for specific instructions on how to remove your current straps. You can get the new covers to use also. Chicco made a retroactive change making the strap covers optional. That should help a lot

We occasionally have issues when the tightening strap gets twisted, nothing worse than what we had with our infant seat. We do tighten with the shoulder pads and the chest clip low, then move into place.

Thanks for the responses. I was reading about it online earlier and so we here it said that if the child is sitting on the crotch strap, you need to move it to the forward position and apparently that can make it easier. I'm going to try all of this. Thanks again!
