Itchy belly relief

I don't know how many other ladies have had issues with itchy bellies, but lately mine has gotten to the point that I would call severely itchy.  For example, the last two night I have woken up scratching and have made myself bleed.  The nurse told me to try Benadryl (didn't do much for the itch, just knocked me out).

My mom recommended trying baby oil.  So I got some Johnson and Johnson baby oil gel and this has been the first calm and comfortable night (for longer than and hour and a half) in almost two weeks.  If you're having any troubles with an itchy belly, I completely recommend baby oil!  It has saved my sanity (for now)!

Re: Itchy belly relief

  • I alternate between coconut oil and Burt's Bees Mama Bee oil.  Every once in a while I have an episode, but for the most part things have been tame.

  • Good tip! I've been using bath oils and it helps a lot.

  • I like shea butter, but it can be a bit sticky. Regular body lotion does not cut it. I might give the baby oil a try.

  • I was using lotion with aloe, which I usually use on sunburns, and it helped for a couple of hours (ish) but this is so much better!!  And I figure we'll use it with Baby, so it's not a waste!

  • I've been using the baby lotion someone gave us, with aloe in it. It's very soothing.

  • I've been using the Burt's Bees Mama Bee belly butter, and it helps quite a bit, but I may try their baby oil the next time I have a particularly angry spot. Thanks for the tip! :)
