Stomach bug question

DS threw up last Tuesday night, and again Wednesday morning.  Since then he's been lethargic and hasn't had much appetite.  He *is* eating and drinking water, but his appetite is no where near where it was before he got sick.  He hasn't had ANY milk since before he got sick.  He won't drink it now.  How much time do I give him to get over this stomach bug before I worry about his lack of food or milk consumption and call the pedi?

Re: Stomach bug question

  • DD had the same issue. I just gave her a week to get over her milk aversion after up chucking all of it. Wait until this coming Wednesday.

  • Kids don't need milk. It's not going to hurt him to be without milk for a while. As long as he is eating a bit, drinking, and having enough wet diapers, I would give it at least a full week. It took DS 6 days to get somewhat back to normal when he got a stomach bug and 10 days before he was totally back to normal. We had good luck with those baby food pouches and pureed soups in a straw cup.
