A weird sleep issue - help?

So the last week or so, T has been sleeping really badly (it's a phase! it's a phase!) - she's been sleeping badly for a long time, but recently we haven't been able to settle her when she wakes up in the night, so give up and take her to our bed. One of us will sleep on the couch and get a good night's sleep and the other will deal with this wriggling, kicking, jumping, rolling, flipping monster.

I don't know what it is: she seems asleep, but she is SO active, she flings herself around the bed and can't lie still, BUT she's asleep! For example, last night in the space of a minute, she went from lying with her head on my knees and her feet on my stomach, then moved to her head on my knee, with her body on the bed next to me, in a kneeling position, then moved to head on my stomach, legs wrapped around my legs, to sitting upright with her head against the pillow. ALL IN LESS THAN A MINUTE.

She sticks her bum in the air, then rolls over and kicks her legs in the air, then rolls around and finds another position. I think she is uncomfortable and can't find a comfy position, or she's in some sort of discomfort (fucking molars?) or something, but her little body can't be getting much rest. And this goes on for HOURS.

Does anyone else have something like this? Any ideas?

  • Crap. I was hoping it was one of those secret parent things... Oh, she's doing that? Then all you need to do is XYZ and she'll sleep through again.

But thanks for the commiseration... it helps knowing that she's not the only one doing this weird shit. Growing pains?

  • We have the same thing.  It is better if we give tylenol before bed.

His go to position when I cave and bring him in bed, is laying across my husbands neck.  I love it, haha!

We tried CIO Friday night for over an hour.  He was not giving in.  I snuggled on the couch with him for 30 minutes while he slept.  Then I transferred to his crib and he slept the rest of the night.

I have no idea what is going on.
