symptoms related to gender??

im five weeks pregnant with my second. with my first, i had terrible nausea, but that was the worst of it. my skin and hair was perfect. i didnt gain weight anywhere but my belly and butt. my first was a boy. well this time i have very very little nausea. im breaking out like crazy. like face, chest and back. and im gaining weight all over already! is this just one of those 'every pregnancy is different' or could it mean im having a girl this time? ive heard a lot of people say 'girls steal your beauty'

and also, how do i change my screen name?! this is my old one from when i was pregnant with my son three years ago..

Re: symptoms related to gender??

  • With my son I was so sick I was in the hospital twice for dehydration, I broke out everywhere, my hair was greasy, skin was dry and I gained 30 lbs in just water weight/swelling... (I know this because when I came home from the hospital I only had lost the exact amount my son weighed but within 10 days I dropped 30)
Now with this pregnancy I'm nauseous at times, no vomiting tho. My hair and skin are great. So as much as I wish we could believe the old wives tales the truth is you have a 50/50 shot!

  • I was super nauseous my first pregnancy, pretty much the entire time. My hair and skin looked awesome and I was all belly ...I had a girl. This time my symptoms aren't as severe and I'm breaking out, so I'm curious as well! :)

  • With my son I had little nausea, great hair and no breakouts. With this one I had a lot of nausea, very sensitive to certain smells, my hair is a stringy nasty mess no matter what I do, and I'm breaking out constantly. Do I think it's a girl because this pregnancy is a polar opposite? Maybe. But I'll let the ultrasound dictate that. :)

DS #1 born January 2010. DS #2 due June 2014.

  • My mom has two boys and me, her pregnancies with the boys were identical and she carried the same way, gained weight the same, all that. I was opposite. She also "knew" what each of us were going to be.

With DS I wa sick, broke out, and gained 70 lbs. I also felt like I was having a boy. So far I'm nauseous but not throwing up, and no breakouts. It's still to early for other comparisons, but this time I feel like I'm having a girl. The guessing games are fun, but like PP said its 50/50 either way.

  • During my first pregnancy my hair and nails were awesome! I hardly ever had a pimple and i had no nausea. The only thing that happened was that i gained weight....A LOT OF WEIGHT. I had a boy. :) Now im 10 weeks pregnant, ive been throwing up ever since i found out i was pregnant, My hair is growing really fast as well as my nails. i feel miserable and my stomach is huge.... So idk...lol
  • I have two boys already and my symptoms were totally different with each and I carried a little differently both times. There is no link, just wives tales:)
  • Your symptoms are related to your hormones, not the sex of your child.

  • I was also sick all the time, and had fantastic skin, when I was pregnant with my daughter.

Or wait, maybe I don't know the difference between a vagina and a penis.

Save yourself some snark and don't post things like this in the future. YWIA

It is fun to speculate with all the old wives tales but sadly it is only speculation. You have a 50% chance so the old wives tales aren't reliable.

I had a girl last time and my hair was seriously amazing and beautiful, not a single pimple and I only gained weight in my boobs and belly. I looked pretty awesome if you don't mind me tooting my own horn. I also had a strong gut feeling we were having a girl.
All this. But I had a boy. There's no way of knowing what you're having.

  • With my first two, both girls, I could not eat a thing purely because of the sickness and heart burn played a massive part was sick till the end, this time round skin is amazing,no sickness ( feel slightly sick in the morning but not drama ) my only probs I'm soooooo tired and sore breasts, I eat loads! Which I'm happy about I love my food :) mainly savory and salty foods could I be having a boy??? Hope so I'm 6 weeks 4 days xxxx
  • I think every pregnancy is different, but I have heard that boys make you hungrier, and that was defiately my experience with my second LO (first is a girl, second is a boy).

  • I'm reallllllly hoping for a boy but will be happy either way to be honest as long as it's happy and healthy but really need a boy lol no pressure lil one haha

Nope, the sex of the baby does not impact your symptoms. Old tales are fun, and when you get a few people with different stories together, it can make for a fun conversation, but that's about it. The kid will eventually let you know their gender :-)

  • For the screen name, you have to email and ask. They do it quickly for people who have security issues with theirs like name in it, but I don't know the rules on changing it just because. I bet they do it, but it could take awhile with all the requests.

  • So far this pregnancy has been different from my first- I had a girl the first time. The Chinese prediction is a boy so we will see when the time comes. Each pregnancy is different no matter the gender but it is fun to speculate.
