I posted this last Friday and wanted to check in again and see what everyone is doing this week. So here are the questions:
1) What new foods has your baby tried this week? How did baby like them?
2) What do you plan to try next?
3) Any allergic reactions?
4) Any other comments/concerns/advice to offer?
Re: Solid Foods Check In
-Green beans and pears. He liked the green beans once we warmed them up a bit, but did not like them cold/room temperature. He was a big fan of the pears.
2) What do you plan to try next?
-Sweet potatoes today
3) Any allergic reactions?
-Not yet, thankfully
4) Any other comments/concerns/advice to offer?
We went to Cheesecake Factory, and they bring out a baby plate with cut up bananas and strips of their bread. He had already had banana at that point so we mashed up one slice and gave it to him as well as let him gum the bread strips. He really liked gumming the bread strips and cried when we took them away.
1) What new foods has your baby tried this week? How did baby like them?
We did pureed peas and carrots
I also let her have a taste of my sandwich she was eyeballing and grabbing out of my hands (just some toasted bread) and a graham cracker square which she DEVOURED...
2) What do you plan to try next?
No idea, i'm out of jars... probably will try pureed chicken soon.
3) Any allergic reactions?
Nope
4) Any other comments/concerns/advice to offer?
I stopped waiting 3 days between new foods because I'm not disciplined enough for it. If she wants something, I try to let her have it, as long as it's semi-healthy. I also doubt she will have allergies, because my family doesn't really have any, except shrimp for me. I did have a minor panic attack after I let her nom on the graham cracker because duuuuuuuuuhh mom they are HONEY grahams!! But I researched it and she's not at risk for botulism from the crackers since the honey was heated enough to kill the spores... thank God...
Anyway, we also have been playing with banana every day and it's a big hit in its natural form! (She didn't enjoy it pureed). I just cut the top with skin on, then just cut the peel around he top off so it's like a push pop or ice cream cone. It's a little less messy and she is able to grip it well.
Banana:2. We most likely will try the berry banana one next. That or the sweet potato and corn.
3. So far no allergic reactions.
4. Not that I can think of.
This was our first week of food! We did avocado and sweet potato. He had a little to much trouble holding the avocado, but didn't seem to mind the flavour. He was more excited about sweet potato, But still seems surprised when he actually get things in his mouth.
2) What do you plan to try next?
This week it's banana, cauliflower and green beans. DH wants us to try cheerios so I might use them to crush and roll the banana in to make them less slippery.
3) Any allergic reactions?
Fortunately not so far. He woke up screaming at 4am this morning, But I'm not sure it's related.
4) Any other comments/concerns/advice to offer?
Poopy diapers are exciting to examine. DH was out of town for LO's first sweet potato - flecked diaper and I just had to send him a picture ;-)
DS born 6/2013
This is what happens when hand meets spoon meets eye.
1) What new foods has your baby tried this week? How did baby like them? Tried carrots today he loves banana purée and whole.
2) What do you plan to try next?
Not sure maybe zucchini or avocado
3) Any allergic reactions? Nope
4) Any other comments/concerns/advice to offer?
It makes me so nervous BLW especially when he bites a chunk of banana off!! I'm really trying BLW but so far I'm way more comfortable with purées. It's so hard to get past the gagging and the mommy instinct to stick my finger in his mouth to get the chunks out!
I bought teething cracker things since I noticed others on here have tried them out. They say they are for babies who have experience chewing so did I get the wrong type?!
No bad reactions.
I'm surprised but Freyja doesn't care for fruits and apples were her first food. She's all about veggies. She eats fruits without any excitement and hates honey dew but put peas in front of the child and you might lose your hand. Go figure.
