Blended Families

said goodbye today NBFR

I said goodbye to our foster dog. She has been with us for six months and is finally on her way to her forever home in Virginia. I cried the whole way there to meet her transport and the whole way home.

BTW that thing in the corner is a dog toy, not something that it might look like. ;) I have had people ask before.

  • Awwww. I hope she lives a long and happy life together. You did a wonderful thing by giving her a second chance at life.

I have been fostering since I was about 12, and although it is always hard to say goodbye, I'm used to it. This is only the kids' and DH's foster experience, and first long term one.

We bottle raised an orphan kitten and adopted it out a couple years ago. Last year we took in a litter if sick kittens refused by their mother at 10 says old. The two that survived never left; we couldn't part with them.

And then along came Dixie, who ended up being with us since June. This has been a very quiet evening without her. Our permanent dig seems a little sad, too.

H says no more fostering because he is heartbroken.
  • Aww. That's so sweet what you guys did. I imagine everyone must be very sad though :(.
