Formula switch

My twin boy are 7 weeks old. We had them both in similac sensitive. Then One was spitting up all the time, we switched to emfamil gentle ease and still spitting up. We took him to the doctor she put them both on reflux medicne. Two days later the baby that was spitting up got diherrea. We took him back to the doctor and they put him on soy. Now today he has been crying all day finally went to the bathroom and it was a hard/bloody stool. My other baby has just cried not stop since giving him the reflux med. Anyone have any suggestions?

  • Definitely call the pediatrician. Blood in the stool can be a sign of milk and soy allergy from what I understand. That's something the pediatrician will want to check. Please call them.

  • Definitely call the doctor, however, my baby was on similac advance he was really gassy and fussy. I took him to the pediatrician and he switched him to similac Alimentum, and I noticed a huge difference right away. He's not as fussy and not as gassy. Also doctor browns bottles are great for gassy babies. A lot of pieces to wash but it's well worth it. If you're baby is extremely gassy and fussy, try giving mylanta (plain flavor) in small doses, of courses talk to the doctor first but it has been helping with my baby. He is so much happier!
  • Thanks we have been to the doctor 3 times this week. We have been using dr.brown. They put them on nutramigen but it's smells and tastes awful! Is the similac alimentum their version?
  • @nhull22 yes the alimentum is the similac version of nutramigen. It also smells horrible. Both if our kids have been on it. hope things are getting better for you.
