How much did your newborn sleep? I have a one week old and it seems like she is only awake 1-3 hours a day total. She eats and then sleeps. Is this normal, for her to sleep so much? I can't remember with DD1.
My son is in his 9th week. His sleep pattern at night is so regular, he only wakes up for feedings, then falls asleep again. The mornings and the afternoons and specially before the evening, though sleepy, he starts crying at first when I put him in his crib, and his falling into sleep shall be accompanied by my rocking his crib the whole time and chanting to him.
Actually, he is hyper-sensitive to being left alone, not even one second he can tolerate being left alone. He starts crying and wants to be taken to your arms. I wonder if it is normal and if I take him every time, can it lead to bad habits like his thinking that everything he wishes should be responded at the moment!?
My DS is 2.5w old. At first he just ate and slept; now he is alert 2-3x a day, so 3-4 hrs, but his total awake time would also include a good part of every 2 hrs (BF) so that would add up. Sounds normal if your LO is eating well and during the awake time your LO is alert (not lethargic). On the other hand, I am unable to be alert- need more sleep!
