ECV

LO is footling breech and is being stubborn about turning!  I went to the chiropractor every day this week for the webster technique.  She is currently at a diagonal - head at my left ribs and butt on my right hip.  Since doing the webster technique, she will flip to my right side  if I lay on my back on the couch but then flips back to her original position once I get up.  She keeps trying but hasn't flipped all the way around yet.  Doctor has scheduled an ECV for Wednesday morning so she needs to flip before then!  My placenta is on the front instead of back so I'm at a higher risk of the placenta tearing meaning emergency c-section.

I really don't mean to be snarky, but this is a strange post. It sounds like you are responding to a question that no one actually asked. I'm not quite sure what you are hoping to get from posting this, so I will simply say.... oh.

My understanding (and my research, which admittedly is not exhaustive), is that having an anterior placenta does not increase your risk for abruption -- whereas previa does complicate vaginal delivery. FWIW.

  • I may be getting an ECV as well on Wed. Baby was transverse/oblique yesterday though I spent some time upside down yesterday as well. Now it seems his back is along my right side and I can't find his head so he may have flipped head down, I'm not quite sure but if not I'm asking my OB about the ECV on Wed.

  • Good luck to us all :) We'll be discussing the same thing, but on Tuesday. During my u/s last week, LO was oblique, transverse, frank, who knows what else! Just not head down :P

DH says this one is going to come into the world prepared for older siblings.

@peanutmuse - I think she means that the ECV could cause the placenta to rupture during the procedure, but I could be wrong. There are definitely risks involved with external versions.

My guy has been vertex for weeks so I'm hoping the oblique was just an off day for him and he'll settle back down where he belongs...stat :)

  • I tried a version 2 1/2 yrs ago. They check with an U/S periodically to make sure all is well.
Not gonna lie, it hurt me like hell. Some people don't mind and it was just cramps afterwards.
They will stop if baby is in any distress. They'll lift baby out of your pelvic region and try to manually manipulate him/her and get them into a vertex position. My DS wouldn't budge. Not even a little.
We got hit badly by Irene, so I would have been 2 1/2 hours away from the hospital since we were evacuated from my flooded house the day we were released from the hospital after the CS. Everything happens for a reason.
    Good luck!

@MrsGraham06, that makes sense. I stand by initial assessment that it is a strange post, though, considering she doesn't ask if anyone has gone through it before, if anyone needs to do it now, etc. It reads more like a Dear Diary entry -- especially since she hasn't come back to comment at all. I wonder if she has even read the responses.
  • why does it matter how she writes it? she just wanted to post about what's going on with her pregnancy and her baby. just let her vent .
  • why does it matter how she writes it? she just wanted to post about what's going on with her pregnancy and her baby. just let her vent .

I read this post and I am a little confused. It is hard to tell if she is venting, needs advice, or has a question. A little clarification could go a long way in OP getting any type of support/advice she is looking for....

If OP is simply venting to the board, then I find it a tad bit random since she does not post here often. Furthermore her replies vs. discussion ratio clearly shows that she creates a lot of posts, but infrequently supports the rest of board....

  • @ccip82, you are much nicer than me today. I am feeling super cranky this morning.
  • @peanutmuse are you ok today? Probably just feeling crappy with everything going on for you, hope you are alright.
  • @tesskerr, I'm ok. Just still in a lot of pain (probably due to stones that refuse to pass) and trying to not take pain meds as much as possible. Trying to find a balance between taking pain meds and limiting the number of contractions, and meanwhile making sure my BP is down is not the easiest thing I've ever done, ha.
  • What is with all the randoms lately?

    @peanutmuse

I hope you find the right balance soon and the contractions lighten up for you. I understood where you were coming from. The post (like we both mentioned
    ) was hard to follow.

    Edited for clarity.

  • Wow not the responses I was expecting, way to make someone feel welcome on this board. I guess I came to the wrong place. I thought the purpose of these boards were to share whats going on and communicate with others going through the same thing. I should have asked specifically if anyone else is going to have an ECV but now I guess I won't be coming back.  No I don't post on here often but thats because I'm pregnant, working full time, and we just moved last weekend and now getting the ECV tomorrow.  I don't have the time to get on here often to read everything, respond to people, or even respond to my own post quickly.

I can't even.... not after last night's shitstorm.

I think my case of the Monday crankies has runover into Tuesday.
