Gross ? for those with colds-Bloody noses

So this is gross, but I am blowing my nose every honkin second with this cold and its always full of blood. My sinuses keep draining too and Im totallly getting grossed out by the thought that that could be filled with blood too. So I guessI just want to know if anyone else is dealing with this crapola and if all the blood should be a worry? I have been light headed today and not sure if its just pregnancy, having a cold, or could have anything to do w. all the darn blood coming out my nose. Sorry if this sounds ridiculously stupid.

Re: Gross ? for those with colds-Bloody noses

  • I've had a bad cold as well and have also had a bloody nose pretty consistently. I asked my dr about this and she didn't seem too concerned. She just said that it's pretty common especially during the winter.

  • I have the same issues.  I've read that nosebleeds are more common in pregnancy and yeah, the winter weather isn't helping at all!
  • Ok cool, just wanted to hear I wasnt alone and that its nothin to worry about :) Thanks ladies!!

  • My nose and gums bleed almost daily. I'm prone to bloody noses though and now it's just all the extra blood and swollen membranes. One of the many joys of pregnancy huh :)

    ~~Everyone Always Welcome~~

  • I blow out blood every day :) the dryness of winter plus pregnancy rhinitis (caused by increase in progesterone...usually worse in the 2nd tri) do wonders for your sinuses..warm mist and saline sprays can help!
  • Get a humidifier!!! And use a sinus rinse. They're both lifesavers :)

Got both :) Humidifier running 24/7 and a neti pot. I forgot to refill the darn humidifier last night and my nose is bleeding like CRAZY today, so wont make that mistake again!

  • Same here!  Especially in the mornings.  My nose bleeds like a mother!  So gross.  I've been blowing my nose constantly for weeks, its dry, and I also read that nosebleeds can be common during pregnancy.  Looks like we're stuck with it.  :(    Like PPs, I think most of it is due to the cold, dry winter air.
  • I had this my entire first pregnancy and this one! In fact, I had blood when I blew my nose the day before I got my bfp and I knew it was a sign! Sounds crazy...but it's true!

  • Also I don't blame it all on the cold - my first pregnancy I was due at the end of August and always had this! I think it is just because your blood volume increases so drastically.

  • Using a humidifier! Getting bloody noses every few days.... Not bad just if I sneeze hard or blow my nose early am!

  • I get this too. I bought a humidifier but haven't set it up yet, I really should this weekend!
  • ive never had a nose bleed until i hit the second tri. its scary but totally normal
  • Yes! The humidifier is running at full blast 24/7 but not making one damn bit of difference! I have a bloody nose EVERY.SINGLE.DAMN.MORNING.

Glad to know I'm not the only one.... Pregnancy is delightful!

  • @ckred27
DH filled ours last night and it never expelled any steam! I woke up super stuffy and bloody today too. Just made sure it would work, threw some salt in and it's running now, thank goodness.
  • DH blows his nose every morning and gets nothing but bloody boogers. I would try a saline spray. That may help moisturize your nose so it doesn't get too dry.

  • Yes been blowing bloody for a little bit now and I'm all congested! Luckily I had my nose cauterized when I was younger so I haven't had to deal with it bleeding in a long time!
