Started son on whole milk and he hates it

I started my son on whole milk Saturday. He was doing formula as well. I've had difficulty getting him to drink the milk. I've tried adding a drop of chocolate syrup, vanilla, and setting on the counter for about 10-15 minutes before drinking. The vanilla is helping some but he still doesn't drink more than 1 oz. Should I try warming it? Any other suggestions? He is 12 mo old and we are about to run out of formula and I'd like to not have to by another container to help ween him.

    What PP said. Definitely stop with the syrups & flavorings. What worked well with DD was to do 3/4 formula 1/4 milk, then half-half, then 1/4-3/4, then she was onto milk completely.

    I think you just haven't given it enough time.  It took my DS a few weeks to really drink more than an ounce of two or milk.  We did add a drop of choc syrup at first and that helped him.  We did that for 4 or 5 days and then stopped adding it and he didn't notice.  He did not learn to only like flavored milk.  I think it just takes some kids longer to adjust and you need to give it more than 4 days.

    I would mix it slowly in increasing amounts with the formula. DS only drinks 8-12 oz of milk a day but its raw farm milk straight from the tank.

    If your son's milk consumption is worrying you see if he likes avocados and feed him more cheese (real cheese not American or anything overly processed) and plain Greek yogurt without the fat removed.

    Yep do the mix as everyone said. LO hated whole milk and then we slowly week by week add milk to her formula and subtracted the formula. Now its only milk and she's addicted :D

    Blend fruit with it like bananas or strawberries. My son was the same but he was breastfed.

    This.  DD is not a big milk drinker at all.  She is healthy and growing.

    What about buying a smaller contaner of formula?  We get premasured single serving pouches that came in a pack of something like 24.  She doesn’t get formula often so it retains a longer shelf life. Would let you do a gradual transition & any left over a could be donated or given away later.
