Can we talk about baby kicks/fetal movement?

I know I'm probably in the minority here, but while I love the fact that she kicks because I know she's ok, I hate feeling the kicking and movement.  It makes me nauseous.  Everyone was like, "oh, baby kicks were the best part of pregnancy!", but when she gets too active and I haven't eaten, I get stomach sick and my heartburn kicks up and I'm miserable for the rest of the night.

How about you?

RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.

  • I'm the same! Love the reassurance of feeling him move but I just wanted to curl up in bed all afternoon while I was at work because it was making me nauseous!
  • Loading the player...
  • It's not quite that bad for me yet, but it is a little uncomfortable. I'm 25 weeks, so I think the further I go and the bigger/stronger she gets the more painful it is going to be.

    Good luck!!
  • They made me very nauseated in the beginning when it was mainly flutters but yes they do make my heartburn flare up now. Also I have a spot where he will push out and it hurts really bad. Oh the joys of pregnancy!

  • Very rare are any of the kicks painful so far. I have major heart burn and indigestion so the kicks don't actually make a difference so it's a nice thing for me.

  • This was EXACTLY how I felt at first. Oh my god, when he did rolling / sliding kind of movements, it was like stomach-in-my-throat kind of roller coaster nausea. I kept thinking 'ummm...not awesome. Not awesome at all.' And I wasn't nauseous at any point during my pregnancy, so this felt like such an unfortunate irony! Finally get nauseous and it's over something that everyone else loves! I will say, since his kicks have gotten stronger, I like them much better and they make me feel a lot less queasy. I hope it gets better and not worse for you!
  • At first, I totally felt like this! The fluttery-feeling made me nauseous! But now that I get more POW-type kicks, it doesn't make me queasy. I kind of enjoy it. I'll sometimes feel baby pressing a foot against my side, and I'll push my hand against it... nearly every time I get a strong kick in return. :)

  • Right now, I'm loving all of the kicks. I may change my mind as the twins get bigger and stronger
  • I don't get the nausea, but every now and again he lands one that hurts so much I double over.  It freaks my coworkers/students/husband out.

  • Thank you for sharing!  I was starting to think I was crazy.  Nice to know that there are others who feel the same way.  I'm carrying fairly high - are any of you?  I wonder if baby position plays a role in how we feel.

  • I got my first ninja rib kick the other night.....that was just fantastic.... 13 more weeks of that should be a blast!!
  • It love most of the movement. It's super reassuring. However, kicks to the stomach make me nauseous. Kicks to the lungs take my breath away. Lucky for me, he prefers to lick lower...in the cervix or bladder mostly :p

  • I love the reassurance of the kick as.. But she is extremely active.. And sometimes they take my breath away.. It's also not convenient when DH and I are trying to mess around ;) (sorry TMI)
