Stomach pain question

So for the past 3 days I have had unbearable stomach pain. It comes and goes. It's in my upper stomach and goes down my sides. I can't figure out what's causing it. My bms are normal. Any ladies have this too? Or any idea what it could be?

I thought BH didn't hurt, and (I'm a FTM) I always thought contractions are like menstrual pain but way worse.

Re: Stomach pain question

  • It might be a stomach bug, or something you ate. But if it is really bothering you call your doctor, or you OB. They will have a better idea of what's going on. I'm a FTM too, so I can't tell you much but I've had BH and though it hurt a little, it wasn't awful and went away pretty fast. Everyone is different though. Hope you get it figured out!

  • Thanks! I just want to make sure it's nothing serious. And it didn't help when DF said "oh that type of pain is bad ".

Have you tried tums or anything? I've had pains at night that get so bad I want to puke, but I that's acid reflux. That might be something to try too :)
  • It doesn't sound baby related, but obviously we aren't doctors so it's worth asking about at your next appointment, or calling the on call doctor if it becomes truly unbearable.

  • I've had some upper tummy aches and pains lately, but I've concluded it's a combination of the maternity pant bands and bras digging into me after a long day, organs feeling cramped by the uterus and indigestion (which I have instead of heartburn, so it's not that bad). Some of it also radiating back pain I'll bet. My abs are stretched pretty bad, so my back is having to compensate. I hope it gets better!

  • Oh tums are my bff. I have bad acid reflux ( I always have).

Maybe it is just all organs getting cramped. Thanks ladies !
  • Your sides like directly on your side, or sides like wrapping around your back?  Your kidneys are directly below your stomach (and maybe much closer now thanks to LO).  Far to the outside sounds muscular to me, but if it wraps around your back it could be kidney related.

You're better safe than sorry by phoning your doctor.  Worst he can say is not to worry about it, but you might catch some infection in an early stage too.  Just my thoughts.  I'm an x-ray tech, so I see a lot of people with abdominal pain (medically the abdomen is the area just below your arm pits to your hips - a lot of us just call it our stomach though, even though the stomach is just one organ in that area).  Kidney stones are really painful and can produce a great amount of pain near where you seem to be describing.

I think I will give my dr a call ! I did have a really bad kidney infection last year.
