maternity clothes - hatch collection?

Hey everybody!  So I have sort of adopted a new way of thinking toward maternity clothes - I recently got to Isabella Oliver pieces - they are made to be worn before ,during and after pregnancy and after trying them on, I realllly believe they can be.  Super impressed with the quality, and I don't feel like I just plunked down $ for something I'll only wear the next 6 months.  So YAY for that brand, check it out here if you haven't yet: www.isabellaoliver.com and watch for sales on their twitter!

On that note, has anybody tried out Hatch Collection?  I think their clothes are beautiful, but they are pricey like the Isabella Oliver pieces, and very different.  Flowy, would look great belted now and flowing over a bigger bump later I think.  Just wanted to get some opinions, because they are only sold on their website and shopbop, so not very many reviews out there!

Re: maternity clothes - hatch collection?

  • I almost pulled the trigger on a Hatch item (the winter cape) when shopbop was having their Black Friday sale, but I chickened out at the last minute. My biggest issue is the lack of real person reviews (not bloggers who are getting free clothes out of it), and every picture on the hatch website is styled with the model's hand on top of her bump, so I can't tell whether everything's just really shapeless otherwise. I'm really curious to know if anyone has tried them.

I don't think the Hatch stuff looks all that flattering, but my fav blogger at Cup of Jo likes their stuff. I think she did a photo shoot with them when she was pregnant with her last kid.

Also, @courtneyjean1980, if you read this and could remove the spam flag you gave me, that'd be fantastic.
  • Good lord I could never pay $195 for 1 dress. I can buy an entire maternity wardrobe for 100 and turn around later and sell them and maybe get so money back.
  • Ooh I hadn't heard of either of these brands before now but after checking out their websites I will definitely be doing some shopping! It's nice to know there's some stylish maternity wear out there. I did buy a few pieces from Asos and Pink Blush so far for casual wear but need some good work options.
  • I have trouble pulling the trigger on my old navy shopping cart... way outta my price range.

  • I haven't tried anything from Hatch collection, but DH bought me some beautiful things from Isabella Oliver for Christmas, and I am so excited to wear them! The clothes are very high quality and I do plan to wear them after too.

  • Check out https://inexpensivematernityclothes.org/. It's one of the best resources for finding stylish maternity clothes on a budget.
  • Oookay!  Sorry, I was actually just wondering if anyone had tried Hatch, not what everyone's budgets were!  I would never presume to think that everyone will spend this much on maternity clothes, just wanting to poll the woman who had.  I don't have a jillion dollars to spend on pregnancy clothes or anything, but like I said I'd rather buy a few quality things I can wear for more than just my first pregnancy and beyond than buy junk  - which, honestly, is what I've thought most of what I've gotten from Old Navy & ASOS has been sadly!  I wish it had been nicer, it is unfortunate that the best maternity brands are so expensive.  But ya know, quality, cost per wear, those things matter.

I'm excited to check these brands out! I'm a j crew girl and so bummed they don't have maternity yet - (they just came out with pants but that's it). I bought a couple ASOS but I know these items probably won't last too many washings.

Like someone mentioned earlier, the blogger Cup of Jo, who I'm a huge fan of as well loves the hatch stuff so I say go for!

Edited because mobile posted too soon!
  • j crew is definitely my favorite brand, and I'm excited to try out those pants. Planning to wait until right after Christmas for a 40% off day to buy a pair! Also been buying a couple j crew factory belts and necklaces to mix up with my maternity basics.

  • I purchased a dress from the Hatch during my first pregnancy. At $268 it was a splurge considering that I was at the end of my pregnancy, I wanted to look exquisite for my baby shower. I'm 5'10 and regularly a size 6 and had gained 20lbs. The dress was advertized as O/S- one size so I went ahead and bought it. On arrival I tried it on and it looked like I put on a tent, it was HUGE! I tried everything to make it work, belt, jewelry, you name it. It looked sloppy. The model didn't appear to be much different than me so I was very confused. I just made the cut-off for returns and when i tried to send it back, they would not give a full refund. They not only charged an exorbitant restocking fee, I believe it was 30% of the cost, they offered only store credit, and the kicker, you can only use the store credit for a full priced item, no sale items. What a rip off!
