If you have a KidKraft kitchen...

If you have a kidkraft kitchen, can your toddler open the doors?

We got one for DD for Christmas and she saw it on our way out of the house today, she ran over and tried to open the doors but couldn't. I want her to be able to use it and I don't know it the 'latches' that hold the doors closed will loosen, or if I should remove them until she is bigger/stronger?

Any ideas?

  • We have one and she can open them just fine, I'm guessing yours just needs to loosen up a bit.

  • We took the latches off day one and never put them back on. James was 12 months when we got it and he couldn't open it so we just took them off.

  • Yup, we got dd one for xmas but let her open it early and she's constantly whining at me to come open the doors because she enjoys shutting them. Aii. I'm thinking about taking the latches off.
  • This reminds me that we still need to put the kitchen together. Yikes! Sounds like a project for tomorrow when DS is going to be spending some time with the ILs.

  • I just bought one yesterday for L for x-mas. After much color debate We went with the Light blue. Can't wait for ours to arrive! Hmm... I'll have to see how tight the latches are -- or just keep them off.. thanks for the heads up.

Give yourself a couple of hours. It is time consuming.

  • My mom said it was a bitch to put together.  We have the latches on, and one she never had trouble with.  The rest she had to get the hang of, but they loosened up.

I probably would have removed them if I had half a brain to think to.  But now she's fine with them.

  • I can't decide if I want to open and shut the doors like 100 times, or go find the screwdriver...

So I've heard. Ugh. This means I will have to make DH follow the directions for a change.
