What are you getting your MIL?

So DH is useless and I always get all the presents for his family. I have everyone covered but his mom. I'm usually a great gift giver but this year is hard. My SIL also had a baby and we made a deal not to try and out do the other on gifts from the baby. We both got her seperate ornaments and framed pictures and we're making a joint gift with their hands and feet. Those are from the babies. But then I have to get her real stuff too (they are big on the number of gifts).

So far I got her
-picture (from DH) that has a saying that says how happy his kids get to call her nana
-bath and body works stuff
That's it. Anyone have any other non baby things to get her? She's fairly young (in her 50s) with a trader joe obsession and can drink with the best of them, just to give a basic profile (all clothing gifts are out because she's over 6' tall)

we are getting her a gift certificate to ancestry.com....she is really into her heritage and loves the history of her family.

My MIL is getting something with a hand print on it from color me mine, a picture of LO for her desk at work and a pretty scarf I found at Marshall's...

We got my MIL a Pandora charm with DD's birthstone, a scarf, and a framed photo of DD.

I had thought about a framed picture or something with her footprint or handprint. But MIL likes these so I'm probably getting her this grandmother willow tree figurine.

We got her a piece of luggage and a pair of shoes she wanted. (we go in on gifts with Dhs brother) I also made her a mug with pics of Lo that says I love grandma and I plan to make one of those ornaments with his foot for her tree. She is obsessed with Xmas ornaments.

A necklace with both of her grand kids names and birthstones. It was a groupon. Also a scarf, homemade handprint ornament and a picture ornament.

MIL requires at least a 50$ gift card to williams-sonoma every year.

Other then that I framed C's holiday portrait, and made plates with her feet on it. All of the grandparents are getting that.

@Elizabeth2585 thank you! I'm going to get her one of those. She'll love it! I think I'm going to get her an infity scarf too because she really liked mine when she was here. I always feel the scarf is to a woman what a tie is to a man but it seems like it's a pretty standard gift.

@mslaurats I love that idea and I am doing something similar for their 40th that is in a few months. I found this great mom and pop shop that does all kinds of family crest designs. I had thought of doing it for Christmas but MIL's maiden name is super rare and they had to get a geneologist to research it which I guess takes 3-6 months.

I got MIL a necklace that says Nana and has each grand kid's birthstone, pictures of the family, a GPS, and a cookbook (she gets cook books for us every year too-- we do it to swap good recipes).

My in laws always get us a few cheap presents like chocolates and brainteaser puzzle books so I've stopped trying too hard on their gifts. This year I got them each a "I heart grandma/grandpa" mug with LOs' photos on them, a jigsaw puzzle, a book of scenic walks near their town, and some chocolates.

My MIL might get to meet the twins if she is lucky (DH's words, not mine). She went on a tangent when DS1 was 11 months old and I kicked her out of my house. I am completely indifferent to her, but DH is still angry that she never called for either of DS1's birthdays, Christmases, when the twins were born, etc.... DH had to call her to verify some information for a clearance and now she feels like being a grandma.

I had LO make all the grandparents a finger painting, we got her a calendar, a sea turtle night light, and for her birthday I got her a fleece blanket made with a collage of pics of LO.

We bought her a yarn bowl off etsy because she's a big time crocheter & knitter. It has the holes and gaps to pull your yarn through and holds your needles.
