So DH has been bugging me since DD turned 9 months to set up a follow up appointment with our RE (Repoductive Endocrinologist - i.e. Fertility Specialist) to start discussing options for planning baby #2. I've avoided it long enough ... I just wasn't ready to sit down and start talking about planning another baby when DD wasn't even STTN yet! Plus, I'm not looking forward to riding that emotional rollercoaster AGAIN (espchally when I've still been soooooo exausted!). And all the needles and monitoring! Uh!
But, DD is finally STTN somewhat consistantly (something majicall happened with daylights saving time!) .... and DH and I are not getting any younger (I'm 34 and DH is 40! Yikes! How did that happen?) ... and there is the fact that it took 3 years to get pregnant with DD, so we know it might take awhile again with LO #2 ... so it was time ...
So ... today I got up the nerve to call and schedule an appointment. It's not until mid-January, which is fine, since I wanted it on a day that I already had off work. Plus that gives me time to gather up all my questions, charting, etc.

Baby Girl # 1
TTC Since January 2009
Reproductive Endocrinologist diagnosed us "Unexplained Infertility".
After 3 years . . . 3 IUIs . . . and 3 IVFs . . . our miracle GIRL arrived on August 6, 2012.
Baby Girl # 2
TTC Since June 2013
Got pregnant on our own without Fertility Treatments - January 2016! Thank you snow storm Jonas!
EDD 10/15/16
At 20-week anatomy scan found IUGR (Intrauterine Growth Restriction), and very low Amniotic Fluid. Now, I'm High Risk and have weekly ultrasounds to monitor fluid and growth. If baby runs out of room or is too growth restricted, they will deliver ASAP. My current goal is to make it to 28 weeks!

@MoFree - I do have some frozen, but honestly I can’t remember how many? I think 2-3? We were dx unexplained infertility, and did 3 cycles of clomid with timed intercourse, 3 IUIs, and 3 IVFs. The 1st IVF was a fresh cycle, and the 2nd was a frozen. When planning our 3rd IVF, we decided to do a fresh cycle even though we still had some frozen. Mostly from a financial perspective – our insurance covers 3 IVFs per live birth, so if the 3rd IVF was not successful, the 4th IVF would be OOP. If we had to pay OOP we’d rather pay for a frozen cycle than a fresh, since frozen are less expensive than. If that makes sense.
I'm really nervous though about what treatment the RE will recommend. I'm not sure if he'll recommend starting with a low tech option, or if he'll suggest going straight to IVF. I’m reluctant to go straight to IVF. Because we were dx unexplained infertility, I'm holding onto some hope that it could happen on its own. We stopped preventing (only used condoms) when DD was 10 months, so it’s been 6 months without protection. AF came back at 9 months PP, I missed 1 month, and it has been like clockwork since 11 months PP. I just started charting again, so in my mind we're officially TTC! By the time of my appointment I should have 2 cycles of charts. I’d like to have a few more months of charting (“official TTC”) before we start any treatments. The appointment is just a follow up to get a lot of my questions answered, like what does the RE recommend, and will we need to go through all the testing again (I know I’ll have to do BW, but will I need to do an HSG again), and does DD need to be completely weaned before we start treatments, etc. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I'm not looking forward to the meds! They sucked! I really only had the usual side effects (tired, irritable, bad cramps, bloating, bruising, etc). Oh, and I gained 35 lbs while taking the various meds (before I was even KU)! Still trying to loose that! LOL!
What issues did you have with your meds? I'm sorry if you've mentioned it previously on the board and I missed it!

Good luck with your appt!
Just going to butt in a little...I didn't have to re-do an HSG, but I did have to do a saline sonogram, similar but much easier, for me anyway!! If you're reluctant to go striaght to IVF, than don't! Not sure about your RE or insurance coverage, but it was completely up to us. Since we finally had success with IVF the first time around, we knew we would rather go straight to a FET. We kind of felt like starting out with IUIs would be a waste, plus we wanted to give our frozen embryos a chance.
Oh and, from what I know, you would have to completely wean before starting treatments.

Thanks for the info. If I remember correctly, I before think I did the saline sonogram and an HSG - both were normal. I'm looking forward to the appointment, just to ask lots of questions, so we can plan accordingly. If the RE thinks we should go straight to IVF, I think I might suggest trying IUI first. But we'll also meet with the financial counslor that day too just to verify our coverage, etc.
Plus if I have to wean completly .... that's a whole new hurdle ... DD still BFs 3xs a day on days I work, and 3-5x on weekend. It will definatly be a few more months before those sessions go away. I had hoped to let DD self wean, but we'll see about that!
