Question re: post-partum clothing

I lost 21.5lbs so far (4w PP), and have 28lbs to go.

I am EBF and I read to not diet until 2mo pp, so not to effect your supply, and I still am under exercise restrictions.  :(
Should I go to the mall and get some larger size jeans, or just stay in my maternity pants...it just feels bizarre not being pregnant and wearing elastic pants.

Re: Question re: post-partum clothing

  • I went to the $19 jeans sale at old navy the other day but even when I found a larger size that fit, it hurt my incision too much so sadly I am still rocking the maternity pants for a few more weeks. I'm hoping by the time the after Christmas sales start I will be able to pick up a few pairs of pants for cheap.

  • I'm still just rocking the maternity jeans (whenever I do actually leave the house). But I am only 2 1/2 weeks PP, so maybe that has something to do with it? My hips are wider than they used to be and I don't know if they will go back to normal or not so I may be jean shopping in the not too distant future.

  • In the past I tried to hurry and get into normal jeans. This time, I am just enjoying the comfortableness of maternity pants until my body is ready. I had my 3rd c-section and I know it's a slow process for the stomach to go down.

  • My body hasn't gone back to normal (3w PP) but I couldn't stand the elastic waist any longer. I bought some cheap Walmart jeans ($14.44) to wear in the meantime. Unfortunately they are 3 sizes bigger then my pre-pregnancy jeans so it looks like I have some work to do.

  • I'm still rocking maternity jeans, but I'm only a week PP. I like how the help hold everything together a bit, makes my look less baggy.

I'm sure by the time I can go out regularly, I'll be ready fir some real jeans!
  • I'm 4 week PP and my maternity jeans no longer stay up, but I'm still too big for my pre-pregnancy pants. I bought two pairs of Walmart cheapies a size bigger than pre-pregnancy. This cold weather and not being abke toget out and walk/run really isn't helping with the whole losing weight thing.

  • My maternity jeans don't stay up anymore. Although I'm still above pre-pregnancy weight some of my jeans fit. My belly is not the same, but I wear my bellaband from target and I look normal enough.

  • I'm waiting until right before I go back to work to buy some new clothes. Last time it took 5 months before I was back in my pre-pregnancy size pants and 1 year for shirts (since my bf'ing bra size is larger and I bf for 14 mos).

  • I plan to start exercising after next week. I have 2 pairs of jeans left from my heavier days that fit. They are 12s. I plan to get back into the 10 pairs of 7/9 I have. I switch between those two pairs and my maternity jeans. I am not wasting money on short term clothes.

  • I went and bought a couple of things (jeans, new shoes and a couple shirts) and I feel soooo much better wearing "real" clothes and not maternity. It sucks I had to buy more clothes but honestly, I am sooo much happier with how I look! Oh and my husband made me go get my hair done too because we are back home for the weekend and he knows how bad I wanted it done:)
  • Glad to hear others are in the same boat. With my previous pregnancies, I went back to my old clothes quickly. Not so this time. I'm 5 weeks PP and I just bought some cheap pants a size up. I feel so much better to be wearing rel clothes. I also bough one bigger shirts, since my chest is huge right now. It was worth the money to have some things that fit, since this looks to be a long process.

  • I'm 12 days post c-section and still wearing my abdominal binder... otherwise everything feels too loose and weird :( Given that I've not worn anything except yoga pants and PJ pants at home. I still haven't figured out what I'll do once I need to wear real pants again... probably stick with the maternity pants and hope I can eventually get back in to my old clothes...
  • I have a dozen pairs of pants that don't fit right yet at 5 weeks pp. I squeezed into my size 4 jeans today, but I had to wear a rubber band around the button because my hips are still wide. About halfway through the day I had to switch to lounge pants since my incision was starting to hurt. I'm going to have to suck it up and buy one or two pairs of pants (maybe leggings) because I hardly have anything to wear out of the house at the moment.

  • Just now I changed from my maternity pants (for family pics) back into pjs. At 2.5w pp, I have sweat pants I wear otherwise. I'm too cheap to buy interim clothes. I have pre-pg low riders I will attempt... Soon. I'm afraid to: I fit in them earlier than later for DD, but my shape is fuller this time with DS.

  • I miss jeans so much...I can't even wear regular underwear. The bikini cut hits my c/s incision so I got high waisted, but I had to cut the elastic because it dug in and my skin was too sensitive.
  • I'm wearing two of my larger jeans in rotation right now. Maternity ones don't stay up so those are out the window. I'm 6 weeks pp so hopefully I start fitting in all my other jeans soon.
