Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Eating

My 23month old has been steadily eating less and less at dinner time. I know he eats a good breakfast and lunch plus two snacks, at the sitter. I am wondering if anyone else is dealing with this and if its ok? I think it is just a phase and he will be ok but I'm just checking.

Re: Eating

  • We have been dealing with the same thing.  Sometimes she eats nothing.  From what I read it is normal.  In fact it is apparently how we should all eat...a good size breakfast and lunch and a smaller dinner.  I have been encouraged not to worry about it.

  • It's normal.  Don't worry.

  • This is normal in our house as well.

  • It happens, I go a little crazy too b/c I feel he isn't getting enough but it passes and I just try giving him all the food groups at breakfast or lunch.

  • DS eats a good breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack at daycare; so nights all he wants for dinner is yogurt.  I'm not worried about it.

  • Yup.  Even my four-year-old goes through phases where she barely touches anything at dinner.  It can vary greatly from day to day but in general most toddlers eat more earlier in the day and less in the evening.
