Baby Vomit :(

Just curious about experiences here. Baby girl vomited... Not just a lot of spit up.. Definitely vomit, about 2 hours after her bottle. ( frozen breast milk). Immediately after she was happy and giggly. I got her clean up and got everything in the wash. She then started acting starved. It was about the time for her evening bottle so I gave her it in pieces. She drank it all and has just spit up small amts but goes from fussy to happy on the turn of a dime. No fever or cols. Could it just be a fluke or maybe a bag of milk that went bad? Is a fluke like that common for babies? Just curious what your experiences were for someone this little. Does this happen sometimes or are we in for a long night? First time mom and have a fear of vomit( though baby vomit not so bad...)

  • Sounds more like a gas bubble

  • Well first I would say get over your fear of vomit because there's a lot more coming from what I hear :) Zoe is about 3.5 months and she's vomited about 3 times so far. What I learned (from her pediatrician and other moms) is that unless it happens consistently at almost every feeding then it's just a baby thing. Their tummies get upset, they vomit, they feel better. If it continues consistently then definitely talk to your doctor.
  • Never thought about vomiting with a gas bubble! Hope it's a simple as that. I did add some gas drops to the bottle she had after.

  • I wouldn't worry unless it's happening every feeding. My DD is very spitty to the point that sometimes we have to use a receiving blanket for a burp rag. I've had some people say she is "vomiting" but there is nothing wrong and she's perfectly happy, sometimes it's just a big gas bubble or sour stomach.

I would just do what you did and feed in increments and make sure to burp very frequently. Also, what may look like an entire bottle's worth of spit up is probably only a few tablespoons of formula/milk, it mixes with stomach juices and looks like a lot more. Keep an eye on it but I'm sure your LO is just fine :)
  • My dd vomits about twice a week, doctor isn't concerned as it's not after every feeding (we did track my meals for awhile to see if there was an allergy but there seems to be no consistent thing). I definitely would not worry unless she vomits after every feeding, and then it would probably be a concern for dehydration unless she has other symptoms with it.
