question about first teeth

I noticed today that my DD finally has two little sharp points sticking out of her lower gum so I know at least one tooth is on the way. I was wondering - once you see the top points of the tooth - how long does it take for the rest of the tooth to grow out?

    With DD, after we saw the tooth, it took a few weeks for it to break through the skin.

    some of DS's teeth shot out in a few days and some took a couple of weeks.

    DD got 2 teeth that cut 10 and 5 days ago. The "older" one has grown a teeny bit each day and is now maaaabye an 1/8 of an inch if I were to guess. The "younger" one is just about as long already so within the same child, the two teeth are growing at different rates.

    Ditto pp.  Kate's second tooth broke through 3 weeks(!) after her first, but they are almost identically the same height.

    His bottom teeth didn't seem to take v. long to come in all the way - maybe a month? But his top teeth (he got them a good 6 weeks ago) are just starting to show when he smiles.

    DD's 2 bottom teeth broke through about 1.5 months ago. You can totally see them now. I think they have just a tiny bit more to pop up but they are pretty much in. So it took a few weeks to come in...
