Hi,
I wanted to introduce myself. I've been over on the Infertility board, but think it's time to move over here. After a failed IVF a few months ago, my RE discovered that my uterine abnormalities are too great to sustain a pregnancy, or even get pregnant. He does not recommend doing another IVF cycle, and instead has suggested we move on to finding a GC.
We're taking a little break before really beginning this process in earnest after the holidays, but I am researching now and trying to read as much as I can. I have so many questions that I would love help with, or if there is a FAQ section of this board, if someone could point me to that, I would appreciate it.
I'd love to hear thoughts on having a known GC vs. going through an agency and being matched that way. We are thinking of asking my SIL to be our GC, but I'm not sure how she'll feel about it. I know there are many pros and cons to both of these options, and that cost is a factor as well. Does anyone know what the cost difference would be (roughly)?
Any stories of others' experiences would be great to hear. Thanks so much.

Good luck on your new road to parenthood. If you have any questions from the GC side LMK, I delivered a little boy for a wonderful couple this past May. Your biggest cost savings is going to be compensation and an agency fee if you were to use an agency (so I'd guess around $40k give or take depending on which agency and if you're comfortable with a first time carrier or if you'd rather have an experienced carrier). When you're ready I would suggest looking on a few surrogate forums such as: surromomsonline.com and allaboutsurrogacy.com

My heart goes out to all of you & that was why I became a GC.
It might be cheaper if you SIL is your GC if she does not want comp, but there would still be fees like attorney & such, even if she does nit want comp. But like others had said its allot cheaper
I wish you the best of luck on this journey!!
