Teething

For the second night in a row LO has been waking every 1-2 hrs screaming. We are away and when I grabbed the Tylenol to bring, I didn't realize the box was empty. Until just now. Poor little guy. He is fine and happy during the day but seems to be in pain at night.

Anyone else had this happen? Getting Tylenol is my #1 priority tomorrow. I feel so bad I can't make him feel better. Nursing seems to calm him so that's what I'm doing.. For the third time since he's gone to bed. :(

Re: Teething

  • Also try a cold wet washcloth. I hope that tooth pushes through soon so your LO feels better.

  • I can commiserate. I hope that this is teething and not a new thing (waking every 1-2 hours). Maybe we'll try Tylenol to night too. It's going to be a long day at work. I am one tired momma!
  • You know, I've started wondering if it's a growth spurt. He's fine during the day and was fine if I nursed. Perhaps we are seeing the 6 mo spurt late. Whatever it is I feel so bad for the little munchkin.

  • When my LO is having teething pain I squeeze his binks under water to fill them up and then freeze them. He loves chewing on the ice cold. And they melt really fast so it isn't too cold for too long. Hope he feels better soon!
  • I put washcloths in the freezer until they get a little crunchy..he loves chewing on them.
  • It may or may not be teething. See my 'good sleeper turned bad' post for a bunch of us in the same boat. My LO started waking during the night and is fine during the day and has sttn since she was 6w old. Tylenol hasn't helped :(

We use the Hyland's Teething Tablets. We give him two and hold them against his gums/under his tongue for a few seconds while they dissolve and they work really well. He calms down and goes back to sleep. I like them because it will limit the amount of Tylenol we give E so he doesn't build up an immunity.
Have you had luck getting them under his tongue? We've been dissolving them instead, becuase getting them under his tongue was a nightmare!

  • We are doing the Hylands tablets too.  I think they work well but maybe are only effective for a short period of time.  I notice they calm him down but then he is up a few hours later again.
