So damn hard not to tell my mom! (She lives with us)

So I come home from work, nauseated and starving (at the same time of course) I proceed to eat a bag of carrots with hummus. And then I ate dinner ( which was soup and blt's) she was like "did you not eat today?" I made some excuse that I ate lunch super early and I have nothing to snack on during the day and I was starving. 1 more week until dr appt and here's hoping I get to hear or see a hb. Family reveal at Christmas. I can make it!!!!

Re: So damn hard not to tell my mom! (She lives with us)

  • Stay strong!! haha.. I'm holding out until Christmas to tell family as well.  I don't see my family often so it's easy to avoid telling them ahead of time, but I see the in-laws frequently as they only live an hour away.  My secret almost got out when my SIL came over briefly to pick something up.  We had a large child care info packet sitting out in plain sight, but luckily she didn't seem to notice.. I discreetly hid it while she and DH were talking. Phew! I need to be more careful with pregnancy/baby-related items around the house!

  • I have no idea how you can keep it a secret around someone who lives in your home!  I would probably have accidentally let it slip by now.

I called my parents this afternoon to ask a question about Christmas this year, and when my dad answered the phone, the first words out of his mouth were, "Are you pregnant?"  I was super tempted to say yes... but I lied and said no (though I'm not sure how convincing I sounded.  Thank goodness we're planning on spilling the beans in just a couple weeks!

  • I feel your pain! I got my bfp at my mama's house and I was there with her for a week before coming home. I can't imagine living with her and keeping my mouth shut until Christmas!

  • My mom lives with us too and this morning she made a comment about how much I've been sleeping. Which was 11 hours last night! Hoping to keep her in the dark until Christmas too!
  • Wow, I bet that's really hard! I'm finding it difficult not to tell everyone. I was supposed to have surgery next Monday and have had to lie about why it was cancelled. I keep telling people that my preop blood work was off... which is kinda true, but now everyone thinks I'm dying. Whoops.

  • So has anyone told anyone besides DH??

I have been really frank with my best girlfriends about TTC - - each month I would b*tch and moan when I would get a BFN... And then I happened to be on a girls' weekend with them all last weekend, I tested each morning to be sure I could enjoy my wine with them - - all negative.  Then I get home Sunday night, test, and it's a BFP (just 10DPO)... I was sooo hungover -- so I felt sooo guilty that I had drank ALL weekend.  Ugh.  So I told them all via e-mail on Monday (most are mom's so they give pretty good advice).  So, my core group of girls, plus my husband know.  I know it's ridiculously early and I could have a chemical, but I felt like, if that happened, I would want support from them.

It's going to be really hard not telling my mom and sister at Christmas.  We just had a super sad family death last month, so it would be nice to have some good news... But I know I should hold it in.

I am waiting until Christmas, a few very good friends know and obviously DH but that's it!! It's easy for me to hide because I'm not telling them without DH there with me or over the phone and since I work a ways away from them now I only see them about once a week and that's without DH. I went ahead and gave my mom her Christmas gifts though. I can only keep once big secret at a time. Haha

I go to the dr on the 23rd and I plan on telling my mom on Christmas Eve, followed by my dad and then whenever I see DH's family. I'll tell them. I can't wait though!!
  • My mom lives across the street and its very hard to not rush over there and tell her now

I will only be 6 weeks at Christmas but I want to tell our immediate family, I know that's super early and I should probably wait but I don't think I can. I hope I'm not crazy

We told our families and a few close friends that were there every step of IVF cheering us on. I think in 20/20 hindsight we probably should have just told our families or not said anything but it's too late at this point!

  • I've told two of my best girlfriends and our pediatrician this morning (talking about nursing). I've got one more friend I'd like to tell but I'm in her wedding in February and she's one of those 'my special daaaaayyyyyy' girls who actually told me I couldn't be pregnant at her wedding when she got engaged so I'm holding off for a bit. I'll probably tell her before her bachelorette/30th birthday bash since she'll expect me to be drinking.
