Vent: MIL and Christmas PJs (in list format)

1. My son has more PJs than fit in his PJ drawer, including 2 Xmas sleepers (90% hand-me-downs)

2. It's our family "tradition" (for a whole year now) to buy special Xmas pjs to be opened on XMas eve

3. MIL only buys things for DS that are equal to what my nieces are getting

4. She bought us all Polar Express tickets and insisted on buying PJs for all the kids too, which I understand since they go together

5. I explained DS has too many pjs already so she can skip his. Nope.

6. She's been looking for pjs for him for weeks

7. She came buy with girls' pjs from Kohls for him last night: red with reindeer in pinks scarves and pink hearts

I don't know if that was worthy of a list, but I wish she would ask what DS likes/needs rather than just buy him the boy-equivalent (or not, in this case) of whatever she buys her granddaughters.

  • Eh, I say let her buy the pjs even if he doesn't need them if it's a tradition, or at least becoming one.  At least you didn't have to fund the tradition she wants to start.  She could have skipped the pink scarves, though.  They don't look super pink in the picture though, if that helps any.

  • @stokedwifey I meant the tradition was our little one (DH, DS, and me), whereas she wanted to get him some on top of what we already got him. But yes, I think we just need to humor her. Sigh.

Ooooh hahaha.  We started that tradition too, but I'm not telling a soul!  I don't want anybody picking out his Christmas PJs because I'm a snob.  He got other ones as a gift, so he's Christmasy all month!

  • Why can't he wear Christmas pajamas all through the month? I'd be happy to have one more night to not have to worry about getting laundry done..

  • I get being annoyed by her getting something he obviously doesn't need and then getting him girl PJs on top of that but at the end of the day it's her money. I think the real issue is that it took her weeks to find pj's and then she got girl pj's on top of that! ;) I mean any store you enter has quite a selection of little kid Xmas pj's at the moment...

My MIL irks me for shit like this too. Our personalities are just so polar opposite it's gotten to the point where the small stuff irritates me so I feel the need to vent over it occasionally. :) you aren't alone!

The PJ's in the picture you posted do not appear girly at all.  They look pretty neutral to me.   I would let her buy it, I mean what's the harm?

this. i dont see anything girlie about them.
